A Career In Computer Science – My Way To Bring Sustainable Solutions To Problems Affecting My Country

As long as I can remember, computer science is something innate for me. I had privilege of being a son of computer teacher where I was mostly found in his institution lost in the world of computers. Having spent my days researching various computer applications, I developed a fascination to develop my own personal application. Over the years, this thrust spurred me to consistently work throughout the graduate in Computer Science and Information Technology. Along with the experience and exposure I have gained in computer science, I believe my passion for this field will perpetually continue to spur me in achieving my goal to pursue higher studies in computer science. Upon completion of my schooling, I attended numerous seminars regarding digital footsteps, application of computer science to ease daily lives which bolstered my interest to excel in the field of computers. Following this interest, I majored in science during my intermediate and along with computer science as compulsory subject. I was fascinated by wide array of implication of computer science in various fields. I felt that there's something special about people who code and compute to make life easier. For this I decided to pursue my graduate studies in Computer Science and Information Technology.

During my graduate coursework at Orchid International College, I gained perspective of how actually the codes are written and deployed. I was introduced to wide range of classes such as Statistics, Database Management, Theory of Computation, Compiler and Data Structure. I developed a particular interest in Object Oriented Programming based on which I was able to develop a calculator, and prototype of snake using C programming language in my first semester. Further I developed Library Management System that applying MYSQL database and Java programming language I received a commendable appreciation for my final year project entitled “Location Based Alarm System”. This application was intended for the traveler or the passenger to provide the notification on their hand set around 100m radius of their desired destination point. I also gained the insight about integration of Google Maps and GPS system. Along with my coursework I was involved in internship in IT companies which enhanced my technical knowledge and skills on website design using Java. I completed fundamental programming courses and trainings on. NET, Ruby and Rails, Python, WordPress, SEO and Android. With zeal to excel in the field of IT, I was employed in series of IT companies. Earlier part of my job included IT in- charge, operation and information support officer and business development officer. This experience and exposure not just broaden my knowledge but equipped me with hands on experience on networking, database management, website management, security, data backup system, inventory management and developing innovative ideas for Tech solutions. In addition to building a solid repertoire of technically competent skills, I believe it is incredibly important for IT professional to develop confidence discussing ideas and mentoring students. I have gained teaching experience in computer science for different level students willing to pursue their higher degree in same. In Nepal, IT companies are trying to get a breakthrough in national and global market but they are finding it difficult to access. However it is quintessential to focus on technological aspect in order to create a global investment and grow economy of Nepal.

The computer science program at the University of ………. . is one of its kinds in the globe that can provide me systematic education vital for my future career. The rigorous post graduate course work offered in Germany will enable me to obtain my long term goal to become a successful IT consultant and manager. This master degree will be crucial in demonstrating my programming abilities and my dedication to the field and work independently. The knowledge, concept, technical skills gained in course will be valuable assets in shaping IT sector back to Nepal. My post graduate studies in IT will go a very long way to helping me grasp the proper concepts and ideas needed to work to bring sustainable solutions to problems affecting Nepal.
