Celebrating Diversity: An Narrative About a Disabled Person
Short essay about disabled person
A narrative essay about a disabled person can showcase how disabilities can be a curse that impacts a person's entire life, creating immense difficulties in achieving personal and professional goals. Despite living in an era of progress, where everyone strives for betterment, disabled individuals face harsh realities and challenges due to their physical limitations, which can limit their capacity to achieve their aspirations. Whether someone is born with a genetic disorder or becomes disabled due to an accident, their struggles and experiences are unique and require greater empathy and understanding from society.
Here through this essay I want to shed light on the life of a person who suffers from an invisible disability: a mental disorder. Her name is Navi and she is my cousin. She is one year elder to me. She suffers from a mental disorder and always need a special care and attention. She completed her graduation in special care schools. By looking at her no one could make out that she is not mentally fit but by knowing her more closely one can judge that. She is intelligent in a sense that once she memorize something she does not forget that , and keeps on talking about that from time to time but the fact is she remember only practical things nothing theoretical This behavior of her was noticed when she was about two years old . The doctor told the family what she needs is love, care, affection and attention. One can easily judge that she is an attention seeker and loves to be in limelight. She loves to talk and once she starts speaking she never ends irrelevant of the fact whether someone is listening or not. At that point she becomes out of control and cannot be handled or calmed down easily as she keeps on extending the topic of discussion.
On the other side, she is very emotional and attached to family. If some problem arises she gets panic and keeps on thinking about that till the problem ends, and also give some illogical measures to get over that. She cries very easily and wants to be with family. She cannot survive difference in family. Not only she needs care and affection she gives that back as well. She likes to keep thing tidy and her room is always spick and spam, and cannot tolerate mess.
She had a problem of mood swings which sometimes irritated people around her. She fed up easily and is mostly in a confused state regarding certain things she is very hopeless. Anger seems to be her favorite emotion. If she loves someone she takes great care of that person but if she dislike or hate someone she can speak ill about that person in front of them and advise others not to talk to him or her. This trait of her could lead other person in embarrassing situation. She is always advised to not to be so extrovert but she neither care nor listen that.
From time to time she face many challenges due to her illness as mostly people don’t like to talk to her. They get irritated by her and scoldsher which makes her extremely sad I still remember that once at a function she Participated in dance that did not go well and people laughed at her performance and immature behavior, she was so sad that she refused to come out if the room for two days.
I want to say that her mental disorder had made her different from world as she cannot accept the reality of life and want to live in her own dreamy world and don’t want interruption of an outsider. What she likes most is attention and one who proves her that she loves him and who fails to do so she loves to disconnect from that person.
