A Worldview From A Christian Perspective
Learning, applying and trusting God’s truths in every aspect of our lives, we can begin to develop a richness within our faith that will stand against the relentless tide of our cultures. If we put our trust in God and live by His Word, we can begin to make decisions that are based on the Word and His truth. Romans 12:2, 'Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind'. It is how we accept and respect the world, it is our actions that reveal what we really believe. I question nothing that is brought to my presence. I believe the journey has been place and it’s up to me to follow the path. “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths”.
How I view the world is based on my beliefs, what I have experienced and what I have witnessed throughout my life. My worldview shouldn’t be how everyone views the world, nor should one follow my lead. I believe that because we are unique in our own way, our worldviews will be different. God want us to love and respect one another. He has outlined through Scripture how we should live our life. Most of us go through life not acknowledging that our personal worldviews can affect how we treat others and not appreciate others opinions. Our thinking has been corrupted more than we realize. Colossians 2:8, “We then are taken 'captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ'.
Some people wonder what comes after death. Some may even want to know what their destiny will be when life is over. One thing we can agree on is that death is coming and it is part of reality. No one knows what place they fall in the line but it is known that it’s coming. People feel all types of emotions when discussing death, especially the fact that they do not know what happens after death. Hebrews 9:27, “It is appointed to man once to die, then comes the judgment. ” Jesus may come before we die, however, if we die first, we will be raised from the dead when He returns. Either way, we will face God and be judged for our lives, good or bad. ” The Bible is God's absolute standard of authority to reveal His will, yet we must study to understand and apply it. Timothy 2:15, Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. We must apply the word properly and pray for wisdom. We are taught to respect each other. We are taught what is morally accepted through the Word. We must learn to discern good and evil. Some acts are considered morally wrong. However, those same acts may not be considered wrong. Romans 13:8 states, “Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. ” These scriptures show that morality can be examined in different ways.
Every human being has a meaning and purpose on this earth. Some may think they do not, but they really do. People need a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment in life. Material things are not important and they are not needed to define your purpose of life. Ecclesiastes 12:13, 'Fear God and keep His commands'. God created man, because He had a purpose for us to accomplish. And He designed us so that, unless we fulfill that purpose, we have no real sense of accomplishment. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”. God says we should love another. This is the most important work God intends for us to accomplish in life. “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
Everyone has their own identity. God did not intend to make everyone to look alike, talk alike, walk alike, do things the same way so we were created with our own characteristics. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them”. Each living person has the ability to do what they want. God does intend for us to live by his Word. God will hold every one of us accountable for whether or not we have accomplished the purpose for which He created us. Ecclesiastes 12:14, “For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil. ” The origin of life leads to the question of where we came from. As we know, God created each of us. Life was initially created by God in six days. This is evident in Exodus 20:11, “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it”. Life came from life which is the eternally living God.
A worldview is basically how we look at the world around us and how we understand life as it hits us in the face. In addition, worldview is a set of assumptions that help you make sense of reality. Everyone has a worldview, whether good or bad. A worldview from a Christian perspective is living by the word of God. They believe that the Bible is entirely true and that the way we should live our life. Moreover, all non-Christian worldviews are alternatives that are basically refusals to bow to the truth of God’s season.
