“Psycho” Is one way you could describe the greatest film director of his time and the master of suspence, Mr alfred hitchcock. Alfred hitchcock was born on August 13th, 1899 in leytonstone England. The youngest of three children, and was described as” a lamb without spot”

(Wikipedia Contributors). “Master of suspense” Sir Alfred hitchcock was a genius in the film industry He created movies that shaped our ways of watching movies in general, He has shown us that a movie can be more in his own words he's stated that the director is god. In a way of saying Alfred hitchcock was a man who added to what movies needed that is a bit of flare and spice, something to grab the audience's attention and to have them at the edge of their seats, and there bladders.

Hitchcock was born in Leytonstone England in 1899, of august on the 13th. He had two older siblings, one ran the family shop and the other was his sister, who studied most of the time. Hitchcock's childhood was normal besides never having a playmate nor being normal for his weight which was caused by diabetes, which he struggled with when he wanted to serve in the first world war.

He was sent to a grammar school where the teachers would enforce discipline and which caused hitch to realize his sense of fear, and when he was five his father sent him to a police station, where he was put in a cell and told him “this is what we do naughty boys “ which they were told to do, due to a note that was with Hitchcock that read, “lock-up for five minutes” which was from his father. This then caused Hitchcock to fear the police and authority, he would not drive fearing he would get a parking ticket.

Later when hitch went to school for engineering his father passed and with his grieving mother who had no one for the support he went home to help her but also studied at night for his classes. After the first world war, Hitchcock dabbled in writing where he found paramount pictures which opened a studio in London In 1919 he was hired because of his produced drawing for the title cards for the movie “The sorrows of satan” after 3 years in this studio Hitchcock learned that paramount pictures were pulling out of London, Hitchcock was then hired as an assistant director for a movie in that area he used to work at.

But after helping with so many other movies which he would meet his future wife at one of these sets, he finally caught his break and his luck changed with his first film thriller, “The lodger: A story of the London fog”.

How hitch became so renowned was due to his unique design of camera angles.

The camera angles he used were high up shots, close-ups on the actor's face, and he would test something new. One he used which was widely popular was the pacing effect he used in his movie “The lodger: a story of the London fog. ” He saw that close-ups and angles made the scene more intense and made it seem as if the character knows something or has just realized something terrifying. that was high above angle shot from the side.

Hitchcock wanted the audience to seem as if they were in the movie as if they would see the house or room the character stays in, and feel as if that is a place for safety which you should feel at home, and then showing that a figure is in the background lurking waiting to attack.

This effect was the scope and scenery of the places we see in his movies such as the hotel in psycho, the streets we see in the movie a lodger and the almost neighborhood effect we feel in the movie the birds, the music he used was to help build up tension for when the scene needs such sound or music.

For the shower scene in the movie psycho the music was low and as the killer gets closer and closer it builds up and up and up until the killer pulls back the curtain and slashes the young women repeatedly stabbing the poor women and as the music roars with drums and as she slides down the wall and as we watch her blood drain into the tub down the shower drain as the music slowly goes away elegantly and easy as it started

Alfred has used the language MacGuffin which is widely used in films as an object or person that serves to set the story plot such as a package, or object that was not there before.

A MacGuffin is a person, event or object in films that serve to set the story and keep the plot in motion despite usually lacking intensive importance. Although the word is never really said Alfred Hitchcock has used to describe other things in his movies.

Hitchcock was known for his suspenseful movies, and a quote from him is “it is indispensable that the public is made aware of all the facts involved, otherwise there is no suspense. ” He did this in ways that broke many barriers such as was the stereotype for blondes he went against that stereotype that was around in the 1940s and 1960s, and that the female character he created for this movies was not some piece to be led around by their male counterparts they were true lead characters.

Another type was making use of subjectivity, and by using the “Kuleshov effect” and by rhythmically repainting this effect hitch was able to cultivate the suspense.

The awards Alfred Hitchcock has had are the BAFTA Academy fellowship awards from Queen Elizabeth the second and 67 nominations and 32 award wins. Hitchcock was one or maybe the only master of suspense in movie history he brought suspense to the movie industry that no one else had.

But many don't know who he is so unknown and why is that well its due to how people used to watch movies, that was you would come in to the film house then you would watch wherever the movie was shown and you would wait for the next screening to see what you missed, Hitchcock demanded a full focus and commitment of the story. That is one reason he changed how we watched movies we used to just come to watch whatever was on watch the next screening of the next showing of said movie, then leave he changed where we had to watch the story from beginning to end, he helped the actors move and helped then live the parts they played, Hitchcock wanted nothing but a “best director Oscar. ” He just wanted to be recognized but in his time he was unappreciated, but now he is known as one of the best the greatest, the master of suspense, Sir Alfred Hitchcock.

Alfred hitchcock once said “In feature films director is god, in documentaries god is the director” and alfred hitchcock has stated he scares easily, by children, policemen, high places and the thought that his next movie will not be as good as his previous. He was a complex man, he thought as if he was a murderer or a villain but i guess that is what helped him create such beautiful movies.

Sir alfred hitchcock was an amazing person to write about, he used such amazing ways to instill suspense into his movies, he made his actors feel as if they needed to push harder, and if one asked him about their character, he would simply say it was in the script, and if he or she said what's their motivation he would reply with your salary.

He was an unappreciated man, wanting a place among the greats he was awarded with so much, but he would not think it wasn't enough.
