America, Land Of The Free And Home Of The Brave
America is known for greatness and freedom, yet founded by those with little concern for humanity. The men that claimed this land as their new own were, not those with pure intention. These people stole, cheated, kidnapped, raped, and invaded. Entitlement and greed was among these men that took the land already home to people born and breed there. The native people were, before the arrival of colonists, the brave and the free. Once the colonists stole ground, the next bravest souls to enter the land by ship, arrived after experiencing the most horrid of conditions. Of these persons were men, women, and children. Ironically, those courageous individuals were not those that were free, but those that were indentured servants or captured slaves.
The early years of the construction of the nation, and through to modern times, there lay a common theme. Regarding the relation of the founding of the New World, incorporated extreme unfair treatment of the workforce. Over time poor ways of life remain relevant and continuous. The people vital to the success and progress of sustaining and maintaining of this nation, are left with many hardships. The rights of the people in this “democracy” have yet to be balanced. Those most deserving of recognition and reward, are given quite the opposite.
The right of true equality, for the basic fact in which they are as human as any, is not even suggested for most, indentured servants being somewhat excluded. Not only did they suffer but they had worked harder than the majority of the upper class. However, there has been much improvement pertaining to the rights of all citizens. Including those that had not been seen as a citizen and never considered to be one in the past. Without the hard work of those men, women, and any persons of different ethnicity, this nation could not thrive. Simply the survival would not have been a possibility during the time period. Time and time again, history repeats itself, mistreating and belittling the people that make this nation great. Slavery brought a pattern of racism and torture. Women had the misfortune of many forms of abuse. Throughout the centuries, by law, “fairness” has slowly been acquired. Though, even with such change, the world will never truly be rid of such inhumane conduct. Alexander Falconbridge wrote, in the document entitled, The African Slave Trade; “The officers are permitted to indulge their passions among them at pleasure, and sometimes are guilty of such brutal excesses as disgrace human nature.”
Authority has shown to remain unjust. Examples from then until now are quite different, yet hold the same genre of ideals. How can this nation be referred to as a democracy? The people that are the democracy have little say in the structure of their homeland. For instance, voting can provide for an example of this notion. The popular vote for a president does not hold much power in providing the people who they want to represent this nation. Though many ways are outdated and need renovations, which are proof that the choices of government are not made by the people run by such an organization. Discrimination, unequal pay, and corruption are still alive and well today. Hence, the words freedom, opportunity, posterity, democracy and greatness are rather hard to accept as a valid description of America. America is not alone in the association of all this negativity. Rather it is safer to say, that there has been more negativity than positivity in respect to the birth of this nation. America is not the only and far from the first of its kind, the world has been unbalanced since the beginning of documented history. Human beings are the most complex of life forms on earth. Nevertheless, it is the most simple of notions and actions that seem to be a challenge to obtain and spread throughout. Respect, comradery, acceptation, compassion, and understanding remain a goal for the entirety of humanity.
