Elias Kazancıoglu or known as Elia Kazan, American director and writer. Especially, he gained a great success in theater by staging plays of Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller and became one of the masters of cinema. Elia Kazan studied theater at Yale University. Kazan staged his first play in 1934 in New York City. In the 1940s, Elia Kazan gained fame throughout the country. So he became one of Broadway's best directors. In 1947, Elia Kazan founded Actors Studio, a renowned acting school with Cheryl Crawford and Robert Lewis. Here he trained Marlon Brando, the Oscar-winning American actor, best known as the most important actor of the 20th century. Elia Kazan was shooting the first film at 1945. That's the name of the film ''A Tree Grows in Brooklyn''. His films mostly include progressive and socially critical themes. Elia Kazan won the Best Director Oscar award twice at the Oscar Awards in 1948 and 1955. Also, He was a director of the Lincoln Performing Arts Center Repertory Theater in New York City between 1960 -1964. In the mid-1960s he began to move away from the theater; leaving the second plan to focus on authorship.
