Bill Gates is one of the most known entrepreneurs in our era. He was born in Seattle, Washington in 1955. In 1967, he was enrolled at Lakeside Campus where he first started using a computer. His adopted parents were quite supportive of him from a very young age. After that, Bill Gates dropped out of college and started programming with Paul Allen in the computer centre in the 1968. Few years later, he joined Harvard. In 1975, along with Paul Allen, he started Micro-soft in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A year later, he changed the name to Microsoft and Microsoft moved to Washington State. Microsoft has helped the world a lot. As Bill Gates was the CEO of Microsoft and also the founder, he practically invented the modern computer. Additionally, most of our devices are still using his computer software.
I admire him and his products greatly as they have left a huge impact and has changed the world for the better. Bill Gates has its own skills, characteristics and strengths that has inspired him and has led to put such a great effort into his passion. The first characteristic he has and one of the strongest skills an entrepreneur needs is discipline. Bill Gates said “When you’re in charge, take charge. ” Whenever he was handling, administering and organising Microsoft, he was known to be a ‘difficult’ and ‘fierce’ boss. Just like Steve Jobs, if he disagreed to anything in his meetings, his reactions would be harsh, realistic and strong. He would be straightforward with his workers about his opinions. At the same time, he would consider, examine and give thought to other people’s opinions. Some of them also describe his criticism as ‘devastating. ’
Besides that, his resilience character motivated him to keep going and put effort into his business career. Resilience is the ability to handle failures, rejections, stress and slow progress. We all know, Bill Gates started his passion at a very young age and was unsure of the outcome, result and consequences but he still went for it. He strategized his business and planned it well enough to ensure his business would not fail. When you’re starting a business, you should always be ready to take risks and understand that you will not succeed every single time. People will try to dismiss you and stand in the way of your progress but at the end of the day, if you have the courage to keep going, nothing can stop you from being successful. Bill Gates said “Business is a money game with few rules and a lot of risk. ” Failure is an important aspect to a successful career. The greatest life lessons and your own weaknesses can be recognized and found when you fail.
Lastly, the strongest skill to set up a business is the networking skills. Bill Gates was very keen in forming partnerships with different companies. Growing a network facilitates partnership deals, finding subcontractors or any future employees. Moreover, it helps to create opportunities and better chances for businesses. Bill Gates took this as an opportunity to learn from successful entrepreneurs on how to improve, his weaknesses and how to maintain a successful business. Furthermore, he was smart enough to build relationships with the people that would help him out in the future when there is any sort of difficulty.
