Analysis Of Robotic Devices And Their Uses

Robots started out as just a concept in movies games and shows. Slowly Robots started being a reality and are advancing at highly fast pace. There are many Ethical reasons why certain people are against robots but I feel like there are some positives and negatives for them just like there is for most things in society.

Medical Robots

Medical Robots are used in a variety of Medical Institutions today. They are changing and improving lives for the workers and patients. There are many types of medical robots, the ones I will be talking about are Surgical Assistants, Medical Transportation Robots and Telepresence Robots. Surgical Assistants help surgeons with performing actions with more precision and control. Among 10 operations were performed successfully without the need of human hands. The average time a person was in surgery was 28 minutes per patient.

Another Type of medical robots are Medical Transportation Robots, these are optimised for better communications between Hospital Staff Members and Patients. The main Purpose of these Robots are to bring supplies, medications, and meals to staff and patients.

The next type of medical robot I am going to be talking about is Telepresence Robots. These Robots are used in hospitals and other Medical Facilities. Physicians use these robots to help examine and treat patients in Rural Areas. A specialist can be on call via the robot to help answer questions and guide therapy from other locations. The key features of these robotic devices include navigation capability within the ER and cameras for a physical examination.

There are many advantages and disadvantages for medical robot. In terms of surgery patient recovery is quick, patients leave two to five days earlier. Patients return to normal 50% more quickly. Another advantage is robot assisted surgery gives the surgeon better control over the tools and a better view, because of this surgeon do not have to stand all the time and won’t get tired easily making the surgery smoother and more precise. Robots do not make the same mistake humans make they do not move by accident before surgery and don’t get tired during surgery.

Although there are many advantages there are some disadvantages. Robots cost more for surgery the cost of robot for the hospital is very expensive costing at around $1, 390, 00. For the Patient Robot Surgery would cost around $1, 500 per procedure. Another disadvantage is more training is needed to operate the system. It is difficult for Surgeons who are learning this system.

Military Robots

There are Many Type of Military Robots used in various places. the three military robots I will be talking about are MAARS, Guardbot and Antbot. The First one I am going to be talking about is MAARS (Modular Advanced Armed Robotic System), even though it is small it still packs a punch and is deadly. For its small frame and its modular design allows controllers to outfit this robot with a variety of ornaments from non-lethal lasers to tear gas and even Grenade Launchers. Its features and benefits are Active Force Projection, Field Proven, Motion Detectors, Day and Night Cameras, Multiple Safety Features and Power Management.

The Next one I am going to be talking about is Guardbot. Guardbot was initially designed for Planetry missions on Mars, because of this the Robot can operate in many demanding situations. It is capable off traveling OffRoad, paved road, Sand, Snow and even in Water. The Robot is designed for missions' operations such as Security, Surveillance and Detection. Guardbot moves using a patented drive-mechanism. The drive is produced by a motorized pendulum that propels the unit by changing its center of gravity. This sleek and authentic design allows it to easily provide forward and backward motion as well as make 360-degree turns effortlessly. The Chinese Developed Antbot is an armed police robot. It is capable of reaching max speed of 11mph. This Machine is designed to patrol areas it is non-lethal and is used for crime prevention and safety. The Antbot has 8 hours of battery life. Due to its speed it can reach up to 18mph making it very effective for chasing fleeing criminals.

Military Robots come with its own advantages and disadvantages. One of the biggest advantages is not as many soldiers will die in wars and won't lose their limbs. Robots can be mass produced and can be sent out instantly they don’t get tired or fatigued. Robots can go to places humans cannot like Nuclear Waste places, also hot and cold places.

Just as there are also some disadvantages of using Military Robots. They can be hacked by the enemy and used against you. Another one is Robots can Malfunction and Turn Against you or Just Explode in front of you. Another Major one is robots cannot tell right from wrong they can kill Civilians and Even Rebel Allies if it sees them.

Domestic Robots

The Third Type of Robots I will be talking about is domestic robots. The first one I will be talking about is the iRobot Roomba 980 hasn’t been able to replace a full-size vacuum cleaner but it is still very good. It is especially good on carpets where hoovers sometimes have trouble cleaning the little things. The latest models can connect to the internet allowing you to set schedules and preferences via a smartphone. Its advantages it is easy to use and it's easy to setup its good for pet hair and small debris that a hoover can’t get rid of. It has good mapping capabilities too. For disadvantages, it’s loud and very expensive costing at around $900.

The Second one I will be talking about is The Robomow RS630 it is a lawn mowing robot. Lawn mowing robots are becoming more and more popular in the last couple of years. Its advantages are it has impressive mowing it lawns the entire yard and doesn’t miss a spot, even if the battery gets low it will return to its charging station and charge for a bit then finish the job. It’s relatively quiet for lawns mowing which is one of its greatest features you it could be lawn mowing and you won't even hear it. Its weatherproof design allows it to operate even under in extreme circumstances. It does come with some disadvantages its expensive costing at around $2000. It has a complex setup procedure its old school interface doesn’t help making the setup tedious.
