Analysis of the Program of DACA
To start with, this is DACA essay where this program is discussed. On sunday November 17, 2019 the Supreme Court heard arguments on the status of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). It was serve as an important test of the Trump administration’s hard-line immigration agenda, involving a small but politically powerful group of unauthorized immigrants known as Dreamers.
The purpose and significance of (DACA) is to provide relief from deportation particularly to eligible youth immigrants who came or rather entered the United States when they were children. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which gives the young immigrants the rights to be protected from immigration as well as give them work permit, is a very serious issue in America today. This temporary protection from deportation was offered without a pathway to citizenship a move broadly supported by Americans of all political affiliations. The justices will determine whether the Trump administration acted lawfully in September 2017 when it ended the program, using a bare-bones rescission memo that legal experts say may have weakened the government’s standing in court.
Daca was introduced by Barack Obama announced changes to (DACA) which would expand it to include undocumented immigrants who entered the country prior to 2010, eliminate the requirement that applicants be younger than 31 years old, and lengthen the renewable deferral period to two years. This program Daca receptients are able to renew their permits everytwo years. This program still does not privde any pathway to citizenship. Daca comes with many beneifts along with being able to stay in the Country, ability to have an authorized work permit and through which many have obtained health insurance from their employers.
Daca Receptints are also known as the dreamers because a similar piece of legislation called the Dream Act, which was introduced in 2001 and would have given its beneficiaries a path to American citizenship. The average holder hold Daca permit at the age of 25 and the oldest is 37 years old. Daca receptints need to be enrolled in High School or have G.E.D.. This Program was Introduced because it came about after more than a decade of failed negotiations in Congress over how to deal with the Dreamers. The Dream Act never passed, but it gained widespread popularity among the American electorate and, at various points, both houses of Congress, hatching much of the political activism that is propelling the current debate..
President Trump ended the program in 2017 after nine conservative state attorneys general with hard-line views on immigration threatened to sue him over the policy, arguing that it represented an overreach of presidential power. Mr. Trump had equivocated publicly over the program, but ultimately he called on Congress to come up with a replacement within months. This Program is very important because their is many students out their and undocumented people that actually have very strong jobs as in they have a good paying job. Their is professors out their that have Daca and without this permit they will no longer be able to work as a professor, even though they have work permits.
In conclusion, Daca has not only opened new oppurtunites for those who qualified for it but it has also cahnged Daca recepients lifes. Without Daca everyone who is undocumented going to school and driving around etc have higher risk of getting deported than those who actually have (DACA).
