Biography And Musical Career Of Ludwig Van Beethoven

The historical musician Beethoven was one of many of the biggest influencers in the classical music genre. Some may saith that he wrote some of the most powerful music for the past hundreds of years. His music allowed a way for people to connect and express themselves through his music in different ways.

Beethoven was from a small town of Bonn located in Germany, it’s unsure of his date of birth but they estimate it was around the 16th of December in 1770. His father Johann was also an enthusiast in musical area and had a dream to have his son become the next biggest composer, preferably like Mozart. Beethoven was extremely smart as well as talented. He learned multiple instruments and how to play the fluently by the age of ten. Although Johann was upset due to his son not showing the same impressive characteristics that Mozart showed in his pieces he still helped his son improve in his musical career.

By the time he turned fourteen years of age he was able to play the organ so well that he was able to receive his own professional appointment with an organist. At such a young age he was already an assistant to the organist in the electoral chapel. This is where he obtained his first lessons in composition, and realized this is what he wanted to pursue in life. Although his life may of seemed perfect and had lots of opportunity ahead of him, at the age of 17, his life had began to tumble downhill. His dad had a drinking problem and no longer was helping Beethoven in pursuing his musical career. This tragedy in his family situation made an extreme amount of tension. At the young age of twenty Beethoven decided to leave home and travelled out to Vienna to continue his study in composition.

Through the time of his duration in Vienna, Beethoven’s first study was with a man named Franz Joseph Haydn. Although he became upset and frustrated and couldn’t handle the great composer’s teaching methods and moved to finish studying with other famous composers at the time. Surprisingly, Beethovan did not perform to the public until he was at least 25 years of age, he still performed in wealthy salons for the time being. As his dad dreamed Beethoven did impress one of many of the most famous composers that being Mozart himself. During his stay in Vienna, Beethoven had the honour to play for Mozart. He had taken on of Mozart's melodies and composed a song with it. Mozart that was extremely impressed told their fellow composers, “Watch that fellow - someday he’ll really make a name for himself!” (Grunfeld 76). Near the end of his studies his mother had fallen ill and was set to pass away shortly so he returned home to Bonn. He still worked hard to increase his reputation in the industry in his hometown. He was known as one of the cities youngest court musicians.

When the musician returned home, several years later he got heartbreaking news while creating one of his biggest pieces ever written, he was becoming deaf. Beethoven continued with his passion for creating music that we all loved. He was so extremely talented before, being deaf and still creating music just as well is almost surreal. Beethoven was a legacy in the classical music industry and widely seen as one of the greatest composers that lived. For many years he has moved the lives of many, including ordinary people, upcoming musicians as well as famous musicians that look to his work for inspiration. Also known that Beethoven composed his beautiful pieces while falling deaf perhaps only added to the beauty that was shown in his music.
