Bioterrorism Threat: United States And Russia

I am not concerned about bioterrorism for several reasons but first what is bioterrorism? Bioterrorism is a type of terrorism involving the release of toxic or dangerous biological agents such as small pox stocks or other dangerous bacteria or viruses within a community or population. The toxins could be naturally occurring or artificially produced so it can be used as weapons. Many people believe that due to the present conflicts occurring between different countries, if the toxins are caught within the wrong hands then a biological warfare could take place causing severe damage. It is believed that the Soviet Union are enemies of the United States of America and there was evidence that Soviet Union are planning to use toxic agents against the United States. There was evidence of the production of certain toxic biological agents. In addition, there are only two places in the world where the small pox stocks are being stored. The two places are Atlanta United States as well as Russia. What a coincidence right? The question is does Russia actually have the intent of releasing these biological agents or is it just a tactic to 'fear' Americans?

I believe that the Russian would not release such dangerous biological agents such as 'small pox' because small pox are contagious bacteria that transmits from one individual to another. Say the Russians decide to release toxic agents within the United States, not only will it affect people living there but other people around the world. An American can get infected and transmit the disease to other individuals (could be Russians living there) or an infected individual can travel and make their way to Russia infecting other individuals there (basically killing their own people) causing a massive outbreak around the world. In addition, the population is increasing by the minute, therefore today cities and countries are more crowded than they used to be so if Small Pox outbreaks were massive back in the day, what will it be now?

There were over 6000 Small Pox outbreaks in the 1980s around the world especially in South America, Africa, and Asia. The disease was spreading in an uncontrollable rate. Therefore, releasing toxic agents today can wipe up mankind in a heartbeat due to overcrowded living conditions. There might be new medical instruments, findings, research and techniques today than ever before but our increase in population would cause the outbreak to exceed within a blink of an eye and no medical or modern instruments can ever control that. For bioterrorism to occur, there is going to be risk even in the hands of the people controlling the dangerous virus or agent. A man in the soviet union back in the 1980s who was working in the lab that had the Small Pox stocks died from accidental release of the virus. Playing around with dangerous and toxic agents is very risky and therefore I believe that there other ways countries can fight their battles or negotiate without putting the whole world at risk.

I believe that Bioterrorism is used to fear countries but I do not expect such biological warfare to actually take place. In addition, creating such toxic agents is very expensive. One country probably does not have enough money and resources to produce these agents and getting other countries to agree and put in money to such biological warfare and production of such agents is very unlikely. Since there are many countries that will be against such destruction, that means many countries will come together to make sure that bioterrorism will never see light of day. Bioterrorism can kill many innocent people around the world as well as animals and plants.

I am not concerned about bioterrorism and nor should others. There are many countries against such violence and therefore will do anything to protect their community and population. Back in the day, naturally many people have suffered from such horrific infectious diseases and many people have died. Many people have prayed and prayed for a way for these diseases to just go away and now that we know how to control such toxic agents, why bring it back?
