Introduction

Most people believe that communication is the most important in our diary life, nevertheless only some people will realized of how to use verbal and nonverbal effectively in business. One of the most important things to communication nowadays is body languages. It is simple, but it complicated to understand. So, we have to learn how to use it efficiently for success in business.

Definition of body languages

Body language is one types of non-verbal communication which shows out by body movement. We use it with verbal communication to make the receiver understand what sender trying to say it also called the unspoken component of communication that we use to express feeling and emotions to make people understand more clearly.

Why body language is important to professional communication?

According to EHL insights is shown 65%-93% that nonverbal influence then actual content. If sender uses only the verbal communication, people will understand the context only 50%. So, to make the communication flow we have to use it together.

Types of body languages

There are 4 types of body languages such as:

  1. Posture: the way we stand or sit or move the body is called posture. We can notice the way people move their body. We can see that person expressing by using the posture at that time. Example: their shoulder drop down (unconfident), shaking their legs (nervous), body moves away from the sender(boring).
  2. Gesture: is the way we use hands and fingers to encourage our communication. We can see people use gesture, when they want to explain something, or telling a story. It makes the story more interesting, and powerful. However, when we use gesture we have to avoid the signal that sends a wrong communication between the receiver.
  3. Eye contact: when we talk with someone, we must use eyes to look into people feeling. This is the polite way to make people feel comfortable and understand that you are now listened to what they are saying.
  4. Facial expressions: the way we feel and emotion is express directly by our face example: cry, smile, laugh… this is the easiest body languages that most people understand and it quicker than any types of body languages. Nevertheless, it hard to control, so be careful to use it.

How to make people impressing by using body languages

To make people impress we have to:

  1. Open posture and sit straightly, it makes people feel that you are relaxing and confident. Most people would like to be with people that look friendly. And the important thing it u have to stand strong to make people feel reliable in you.
  2. Use a firm handshake but not too tight.
  3. Maintain good eye contact but do not stare for too long.
  4. Avoid touching face such as: touching your hair, lip, chin... Because they will know that you are boring and being dishonest with them.

Lastly you have to use body languages go along with what you are saying. Don’t make people confuse with what you are trying to say, and think before saying something.

The benefit of body languages proficiently

There are 4 things that we will get:

  1. Connect with receivers better:According to my studies 60%-93% of communication is massages through the body languages. We use body languages to explain massages that we want to send to the receiver, it will make people more connect with sender because they understand better.
  2. Catch lying:It is true that we can catch people lying by their body languages. We can catch a liar by notice what they act is opposite with what they say. That happened because a liar will think about the pretext so they forgot to control their body.
  3. Avoid conflict:: To make people understand the massages clearly, you have to know about the culture in the particular place to avoid the conflict that make people miss understanding what you are trying to send. Example: in India if people nod their head from side to side is mean they want to confirm something. In Laos if people nod their head side to side is mean they refuse to do something. People in the world have different culture so when we use body languages in the right way it will help a lot.
  4. Make ourselves look reliable: At first we do not know how to use body languages into business communication it will make you look not professional with what we do. But when we know how to use, people will believe that you are look professional and reliable to give you a job.

Conclusion

Unless we are preparing what we want to communicate but we do not know how to use the body languages to encouraging with the communication people will not know what is the massages that sender trying to say we get nothing. So, In my point of view, we can use the body languages to adapt with communication in many situation to make ourselves connected with receiver, and avoid using the wrong action that going to make a mistake. All of this things will make people feel comfortable with you. when we learn all about the body languages do not stop try to practice a lot and we will be good at it.
