Book Report: Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot Vs. The Voodoo Vultures From Venus By Dav Pilkey
In the book Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot vs. The Voodoo Vultures from Venus, by Dave Pilkey, Ricky Ricotta and his Mighty Robot are best buddies. For the most part big friends come big responsibilities. It was supper time at six o’clock and Ricky’s parents were sitting at the table. Ricky and Mighty Robot was late for supper three times in a week and their excuse was they were in Hawaii collecting seashells. For their punishment, Ricky’s mother took away their privilege to watch TV until the boys learn some responsibility. Almost twenty-five million miles away, there lived an evil vulture on the planet Venus. His name was Victor Von Vulture and he hated living on Venus. It was hot on Venus that everyone’s food was always ruined. Victor Von Vulture gathered an army of the biggest Voodoo Vultures he could find and invented a voodoo remote controller and pointed it at Earth. Ricky and his Mighty Robot fell asleep while everyone else in town was watching television. Suddenly, a voodoo ray from outer space beamed down through the night sky. The strange signal was picked up by all the TVs in town. The screens began to glow as a strange voice came from the wicked signal, soon every mouse in the city was hypnotized. The Mighty Robot flew Ricky straight to school but something was not right. All the mice in school had strange looks on their faces, they were all carrying food out the cafeteria door, and straight to the center of town. They followed the long line of mice to the center of town, the giant vultures had taken over the city, and turned everybody into voodoo slaves. Ricky and his Mighty Robot hurried back to school in the cafeteria and baked some spicy cookies to save the town. The Mighty Robot flew straight to Mexico and returned with the hottest peppers he could find. He quickly heated the cookies with his microwave eyeballs then cooled the pan with his super-freeze breath. They returned to the center of town and Ricky pretended he was hypnotized as he bravely carried his cookies towards the Voodoo Vultures. They stuffed the cookies in their mouth, then their eyes got very big, faces turned red and steam came out of their ear. The Mighty Robot reached for the remote controller, he grabbed the evil invention in his fist and crushed it with one powerful squeeze. Afterwards the Mighty Robot flew up and grabbed Victor in his fist. He was outnumbered by the Voodoo Vultures, but was ready to attack and defend himself. Everytime he punched, Victor felt the blow and when he clunked heads Victor got the worst of it. Ricky and the Mighty Robot has saved the day. The Voodoo Vultures flew back to Venus leaving Victor Von Vulture at Earth and was never heard from again. They together took Victor to the Squeaky Ville Jail. It was time for supper and they flew straight home. Ricky’s parents cooked a wonderful feast and expressed how they were very proud of both of them.
One of my favorite quote from the book, Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot vs. The Voodoo Vultures from Venus is “Now comes the secret ingredient”. I like this quote because it shows that this one ingredient is going to help the town and stop the Voodoo Vultures. It was also interesting when I read the book of what the ingredient was going to be and how the Voodoo Vultures would react when they took the bite out of the cookies.
Another quote from the book is “This is not as much fun as I thought it would be”. This is also my favorite quote because it shows the result of Victor hoping to destroy the Earth and it turned out the opposite of what he wanted. He was being selfish and only thinking about himself, he got what he deserved and went to jail to learn some responsibility.
The main characters throughout the book are Ricky, Mighty Robot, and Victor Von Vulture. Ricky is a mouse. He has big ears, always wearing a big t-shirt, and has glasses. He is smart and brave. When he saw that the town was in trouble, he had a idea to save the day and create a distraction. He was brave by pretending he was hypnotized and walked towards the Voodoo Vultures to give them the cookies.
Mighty Robot was Ricky’s flying robot best friend and a big hero. He is described as strong. As the vultures were distracted, he grabbed the evil invention with his mighty fist and crushed it with one squeeze. The vultures outnumbered him but he was still ready to attack. He has great powers with super-freeze breath and laser eyes.
Victor Von Vulture was an evil vulture living on planet Venus and hate living on it. In the book, he is described as the villain trying to take over Earth. He has a long nose, lots of feather on his body, and has a grumpy face. He first gathered the biggest army of Voodoo Vultures he could find and invented an evil invention. At the end of the book he cries for mercy and regrets trying to take over Earth.
From reading Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot vs. The Voodoo Vultures from Venus, I learned that things may not happened the way you wanted to. This proves that the evil will not always win. Also with a help of a best friend anything is possible. Friendship is all about trusting each other and helping each other through rough times.
I would recommend this book to anyone who would rather be comfortable reading small stories. I liked the book because each characters have a different unique way of showing their personality. It is an adventures story with great appeal, it would be easy to read a chapter novel with a comic book. Newly independent readers will not be disappointed by this humorous ride.
