Bulling And Cyberbullying: How To Stop It
To start off, what is bullying? It is putting someone in a lower position, to make them feel negative emotions, especially on grounds of race, gender, and sect. Bullying is considered as one of the biggest problems that 21st century has faced. Only in the U.S about 4 to 10 kids are getting bullied every single day! And that is only in the U.S. Everyday thousandths of kids are getting bullied around the whole world, and that is only 1 type of it they face every day.
There are many different types of bullying excluding the original bullying process, such as: Cyber bullying and verbal bullying. Apart from these there is also, physical bullying includes: hitting, kicking, tripping, pinching and pushing or damaging property, and also verbal bullying includes: name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks, or verbal abuse. Bullying usually occurs on daily basis in school, and it’s usually started by the same person or a ring leader who gets a few other students to join in on the bullying.
Unfortunately, the majority of students are spectators who act without any action and start laughing out loud or snickering behind the victim’s back. This is called “peanut gallery”, it may not directly bully the victim, but by standing on the sidelines giving their attention to the actions they encourage they bully. Many people ask themselves what is the reason for them bullying, scientists say, many people bully other either knowingly or unknowingly, so putting other people down helps bullies feel better about themselves or this is also a way for them to show off their position in front of others, and to show, how tuff they are, also they can bully others if they are jealous from other students, or maybe because he is from another country so they try to show that his/her country is better than the country of the student how is getting bullied. This is probably happening, because they have probably been victims of bullying themselves.
Most of the people who get bullied they don’t fight back for themselves, so in the result they get bullied. They give the bully the reaction he or she wants and the bully is encouraged to continue what he or she is doing. We need to stand up to bullies although this may seem scary. We need to build up courage to stand up for ourselves. In my opinion students should be educated to stand up for themselves in that case.
Studies have shown that about 80% of students in USA won’t stand up for themselves and have been just spectating the process, without taking in any action. What are some ways to actually stand up for yourself, if you have this problem? One of the best ways which are recommended for trying to stop the bulling against you, is simply ignore them and that will annoy the bullies, because they will think that what they are doing is useless, because you simply don’t care and ignore them. Another way is, if they are verbally bulling you, You should listen to what they are saying ,and act as it was funny what they said about you, in that way they won’t feel like they are insulting you, they would feel as he/she is telling a joke, which would really annoy them.
These are some stuff you should not do to prevent bullying, you should never go cry, try to run away from the situation, fall into depression, and you should never try to leave the problem and keep listening to their insults, because by doing that you give them an opportunity to continue with bulling you. This causes many negative effects to those, who are getting bullied. Bullying behavior impacts the whole-school community. Bullying has detrimental effects on students' health, wellbeing and learning. It can make students feel lonely, unhappy and frightened. It’s not just the students being bullied who are affected. Most students say they don’t like seeing bullying in their school, it makes them feel worried and uncomfortable. Students who bully others are also more likely to have problems and be unhappy. And those were the small effects of this, some of the students commit suicide, and fall into deep depression, and may never want to success in life and make a career, so they end up being depressed and lonely.
There is also another major bullying type called cyber bullying, Cyber bullying is any form of bullying which takes place online or through smartphones and tablets. Social networking sites, messaging apps, games. Which means it is basically same as bullying, but it happens on social media such as: Instagram, Whatsap, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. Cyberbullies not only targeted their victims, but quite often showed bullying material to other people they knew (39% of cases) and uploaded it onto the internet for others to see (16%).And the big problem is that there is bystanders, how spectate the process without taken in any action, which is wrong. And here is the chart for percentage of people getting bullied in many kinds of different ways, at different grade.

Cyberbullying is counted as one of the most affected, type of bullying in the world, because kids spend more time with media than any single other activity besides sleeping. The last decade has witnessed a surge of cyberbullying, that occurs through the use of electronic communication technologies, such as e-mail, instant messaging, social media, online gaming, or through digital messages or images sent to a cellular phone, which again, is really dangerous due to the amount of bullying happens every single day. This is a real life story, of how a 14 year old boy from USA got cyber bullied: “I think that cyber bullying is one of the worst things that a teenager may be exposed to. But in this age kids cannot act properly. The cyber-bullies are always not self-confident children who, in many cases, envy their victims. I was bullied twice.
The first incident happened 2 years ago in a new social site- Formspring.me In this site you can send your opinion or question anonymously. One person sent me a message claiming that I was fake and that I wasn't a good friend. I was too offended to answer and I just disabled my account. The second incident happened a year ago. Those who I had considered my best friends tended to tease me often about my appearance. This teasing eventually led to harsh words exchanged over Facebook, which by a month time resulted in cyber-bullying. The bullying ended when I blocked them, and moved after the school year. So if you are bullied the best thing to do is to block those people or just find a different social network. Don't pay attention to the bullies because most of things they say are not true. However, if the bullying becomes very serious then an adult should be informed for help.”
This was a real life story, shared by a 14 year old boy. This was not only the first story, told by Students/kids, there is over 10 thousand stories shared by students/kids every day! That one of the stories that has been shared by the student. There is another major story, of a kid playing on a basketball team. There was a kid playing on a basketball team, once they were in a basketball match and the kid missed the shoot. The other player filmed it, edited it and uploaded to YouTube, saying that he sucks at basketball. After two days the video hit 100k views and 10k likes! The kid saw the video and went to the coach and told him that he is leaving he team. After a while the guy who filmed it was judged at school by the girls. Later he felt really sorry, for what he did the kid, so he decided to delete the video. Once he deleted it the other people with who he filmed, got pissed because the video had 10k likes. But he ignored them and went to the boy’s house to apologize. He went to his house and apologized to the boy, he forgive him, and was really happy that the guy deleted the video from YouTube. They became friends, and the kid came back to the basketball team, and became the best duo of their team. This shows that cyberbullying is a huge problem, and that it can be solved.
