Burning Of Fossils Fuel For Energy A One Of The Main Causes For Climate Change

“Recently, data has revealed that in 2017 the average global temperatures will be one of the warmest years on record. This change is caused by human activities. The rate of the climate is changing rapidly. The United States is beginning to take notice of the problems that climate change is causing. This change of climate is affecting our health, strengthening droughts, cause more frequent natural disasters, and many other things in our world. The United States can help decrease this alarming rate of climate change by using clean efficient energy sources, and to stop using fossil fuels as energy such as coal and natural gas. Climate change is the change in global climate patterns. Human activity has been one of the main contributors to climate change. Human day to day activities that is increasing the rate of this change can be things like driving your car and heating or cooling your houses. One of the biggest contributions to climate change is the burning of fossils fuel for energy.

Over the decades, scientists have succeeded in confidently tracing how much of climate change can be directly tied to human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels. These fuels emit toxic pollutants that go into our atmosphere and then trap heat radiating from earth to space. Fossil fuels are natural resources such as coal and natural gas. These fossil fuels get burned at factories for energy. The smoke these factories produce go into our atmosphere which causes the problem of climate change. One of the most polluted countries in the world is Pakistan. Their urban areas pollution is 4x higher than the average air pollution in other countries urban areas. Most of Pakistan’s pollution is coming from these factories. Pakistan’s average PM is an astounding 111. 5, PM stands for particulate matter. Particles that are in the air like smoke and smog. According to the report, more than 22, 600 adult deaths in 2005 were caused in some way by urban air pollution. Pakistan's people are suffering death when they shouldn’t. Pakistan is practically killing their own people and this world by using fossil fuels. As of now, Climate change is affecting all aspects of our life. Many ecosystems are beginning to die out at an alarming rate. An example of this is the decaying coral reef in Pickles Reef, Florida. But what is happening here - as the warming of the sea devastates the coral reef - is a stark example of how rising temperatures can threaten existing economies. Not only is climate change rapidly killing our ecosystems, this is affecting people’s jobs that revolve around fishing and tourism. If there is no coral reef, people won’t have jobs and even worse marine life that rely on this coral reef to live will be destroyed. Climate change has even affected natural disasters. There has been a lot more natural disasters than usual and have been more destructive.

In the United States, there were a number of record natural disasters. These disasters have costed a million dollars in damages and even costed some people their lives. Just last year one of the most talked about natural disasters, Hurricane Maria that hit Puerto Rico, killed 51 people, not only did it kill these helpless people it caused one of the longest blackouts in U. S. history. This devastating hurricane has been linked to climate change. If we don’t fix our problem with climate change there will be many more hurricanes similar to this type of destruction. Droughts have now been longer lasting and much stronger, this is now affecting our future ways of agriculture and humans health. Rainfalls are now rarely happening which help crops grow. Also since the high increase of heat the drought brings it makes crops die out faster.

Eighty percent of the world's crops are rained, so most farmers depend on the predictable weather patterns agriculture has adapted to. The impact of climate change can jeopardize many people’s jobs, and our food supply. The droughts heat wave can even cause people many health problems such as trauma, heat strokes, and diseases. Hotter days, more rain, and higher humidity will produce more ticks, which spread infectious diseases like Lyme disease. The number of these health problems will begin to rise even more because of the scorching heat that climate change has brought upon us. This visual shows the many effects and causes that climate change has brought upon our planet. The increase in floods, wind storms, droughts, and slides have skyrocketed since 1970-2005. These disasters can lead to even bigger problems like many people dying. Also the damages that these disasters will cause will be expensive. These numbers of disasters are going to keep going increasing exponentially if we don't begin to stop this problem. Many people may disagree that fossil fuels are the main reason climate change is happening. People think that sunspots are the ones changing the climate or just a natural phenomenon, and fossil fuels have no effect on the climate change. Sunspot cycles may have some effect on climate change, however, fossil fuels does affect climate change. Sunspots wouldn't have changed the climate so drastically like fossil fuels has, “Since 1978, a series of satellite instruments have measured the energy output of the sun directly. The satellite data show a very slight drop in solar irradiance over this time period. So the sun doesn't appear to be responsible for the warming trend observed over the past several decades”. This shows sunspots couldn't have had a big effect on the climate change.

Fossil fuels do have an effect on climate change even though people deny it, “a group of 1, 300 independent scientific experts from countries all over the world under the auspices of the United Nations, concluded there's a more than 95 percent probability that human activities over the past 50 years have warmed our planet”. This shows even scientists think fossil fuels does affect climate change and it’s not just sunspots. It is not too late to fix our problems that caused climate change. There are many solutions that can help decrease our footprint. One solution that house owners can easily do that’ll help reduce the rate of climate change is retrofitting their house. “If just one out of every 100 American homes were retrofitted with water-efficient fixtures, about 100 million kilowatt-hours would be saved. When people begin to retrofit their houses it will make a significant change and reduce the rate of climate change. Another solution that the United States can do is to implement renewable clean energy. They can install solar panels, wind farms, hydroelectric dams, and biomass as new energy instead of fossil fuels. “The pollution affects everyone: one Harvard University study estimated the life cycle costs and public health effects of coal to be an estimated $74. 6 billion every year.

Assuming that we switch to these renewable energies a lot of people's health won't be in danger as if we were to use fossil fuels. We would also save a lot of money, and the cost to make these renewable energy sources would pay themselves off. In conclusion, there are a lot of problems arising because of climate change. Climate change is affecting all aspects of our life. Some of these problems consist of frequent natural disasters, stronger droughts, ecosystems beginning to die out, and humans health suffering because of more diseases. The United States can help decrease the alarming rate of climate change by using clean renewable energy sources. The people of the United States can even help this cause by retrofitting their houses. So what now? The people who are reading this article you should start limiting yourself and think about the consequences of climate change when you do everyday things. You can do easy things such as recycling and reusing. This seems like it won't make a big change but, it does make a significance accumulating over time.
