Car Sharing - Modern Trend in the Use of Transport

I picked the question avout carpooling or car sharing because I found the topic very interesting. I haven’t heard of car sharing before, and I hope to find out if people like it and if it is going to increase over the years.

Car sharing is new in developing countries, it only became popular around three years ago. It is mostly used in south and central America, they have 5 car sharing systems, in Turkey they have three small systems and China currently has two. In 2016, 46 countries and 6 continents were using car sharing, about 15 million people sharing over 157,000 cars in about 2,100 cities worldwide.

The entire number of cars in Russia is around 42 million cars owned privately, and 3.5 owned by corporate fleets. As time goes, attitudes towards owning your own car are changing, and Russians are starting to like car sharing more and more. In 2013 car sharing in Russia took its first hesitant steps, and by 2015 car sharing was familiar enough to Moscow’s authorities that they decided to announce plans to expand Russia’s car sharing fleet to 10,000 cars.

Over the past year Moscow’s car sharing scale grew to a huge size, which made it the second city in the world by the amount of car sharing vehicles. Car sharing was first introduced in Moscow in 2015. This was done to try to fight with the awful amount of traffic, in 2018 Moscow was said to be the second worst city in the world for traffic jams. Another problem that car sharing could solve is that Moscow increased the area with paid parking spots which made it really hard for people living In Moscow to take their car to the centre of the city.

Problems

One of the disadvantages of car sharing is that even though the car sharing systems provide car insurance, some just pay the smallest amount that is needed for the state. The amount of money they pay for the state insurance may not be enough to cover an individual in a car accident. Therefore, the car sharing members should think about adding extra charge to the included automobile insurance. Another problem is that the car that you found convenient may not be available at the time that you need it in. Another problem is the inconvenience. You have to spend time getting to the parking location of the car, and then you have to go away from it too, which means that you will waste a lot of time.

Solution

The car sharing programs have to think about making insurances with more options in them. Some people can’t find a car available at the time they need it in. To solve that the car sharing companies need to make more cars available at more times. There is another problem that car sharing should solve. It is the inconvenience of the location of the car, to solve that car sharing companies have to create more locations to park the cars in.

Conclusion

I think it is very clever because you don’t have to spend a lot of money on your own car. Sharing a car means that less people will need their own. This will reduce the amount of traffic and pollution. Car sharing is becoming so popular in todays society because it is very easy and efficient to use.
