Today, globalization has played a major role in the trend of world economic development, through by Foreign trade, Business, and Information technology. In pros and cons of globalization essay this topic is considered. The high speed of blossom globalization has been accepted widely. People enjoy the benefit from the convenience brought by globalization. However, different people hold various opinions on the issue whether globalization is beneficial to the economic development or cause more problems. From my perspective, it can be a bane and a boon.

First part of the essay will discuss the primary causes. From the discussion, it will give and evaluate the impacts. A conclusion will finally be reached.

Globalization has already existed in ancient time, it is doomed to be a trend all over the world. Since from beginning of the civilization, trading is one of the important way for people to make living. There has a sign of globalization in earlier centuries , individuals from a separate continent have started to trade in their life. Vanham states that people traded products for nearly as long as they were around. But there has a notable phenomenon since the 1st century BC. Luxury goods from China began to appear on the outer edge of the Eurasian mainland for the first time in history–in Rome.

Information technology has helped the speed of the globalization. The convenient communication provided people a chance that everyone could contact their loved people easily. Chatting with everyone around the world isn’t a difficulty anymore. Especially on smart phones, people can use the Internet to start a small business and sell products to other countries. It can be realized at home. A decade ago, it seems that virtual trading is impossible to happen in life. Technology changed people’s life by given them a convenience way to communicate, we are able to connect with others without any barriers. National Geographic Society reports that “With the Information Age, globalization went into overdrive. What is more important that it can advances in computer and communications technology . Globalization launched a new global era and redefined what it meant to be “connected.” In this new age, Thus, because of this Information Technology transforms impossible things to reality , there are large of opportunities in the market.

Globalization gives access to a larger market. Collins states that globalization has certainly been useful for many developing countries that now have access to markets in rich countries and are able to export inexpensive products. “Since 1960, increased trade has been made easier by international agreements to lower tariff and non-tariff barriers on the export of manufactured goods, especially to rich countries.”  Companies may meet greater demand for their products and profit from economies of scale, leading to lower average cost of manufacturing.

Globalization has helped in developing countries' health and education systems. Hamidi states that education has increased in recent years, because globalization has a catalyst for the jobs that require higher skills set. This promotes people to gain a higher education to meet the demand. Through increasing economical scale, more fortunes poor nations are able to provide their people with good health care services and sanitation. Thus ,developing countries ' living standards and life expectancy rise through financial gains from globalization. According to the World Bank 'With globalization, more than 85 percent of the world's population can expect to live for at least sixty years and this is actually twice as long as the average life expectancy 100 years ago'.

However, Local culture may get influenced, traditional food and culture are gradually forgotten by the new generation. Through the impact of globalization, the lifestyles of the people from developing countries tend to be the same as the people from developed countries. Hamidi states that “Many developing countries cultures has been changed through globalization, and became imitate others cultures such as, America and European countries.” Today we can clearly see the heavy effect of globalization on young people in the various developing countries. It is common for them to wear imported brand clothes, such as Nike T-Shirts and Adidas footwear and eating at MacDonald, KFC and other western food in their countries. In addition, there has been a sign of language disappearing from local. In terms of words , expression, speaking English and other language become more fashionable . even some schools use english for the main teaching language in their education systems. In short, a plenty of exotic culture will lead to a result that people forget their traditional culture gradually.

In conclusion, the essay has discussed the main causes of globalization and its effects have been evaluated. As we can see that the influences of globalization indicates positive prospect in developing countries, such as increased living standard and health, larger market to sell products for people in both developed countries and developing countries. While globalization has many disadvantages, however, we believe that globalization has brought more advantages to developing countries than the detrimental ones. If local government can provide relevant solutions to deal with the problems, such as cultural elimination, etc, then we should fully welcome globalization to give impact on human beings, because we are well-prepared and are capable to solve the problems.
