Critical Analysis Of Hbo’S Series Chernobyl
Chernobyl is one of HBO’s greatest miniseries the network has given us after many years. A handful of people look to cancel their HBO Go subscription after the end of Game of Thrones, and the ones that did so missed the chance to have a look, enjoy, and be traumatized by Chernobyl. Craig Mazin is the creator of HBO’s Chernobyl, it takes place at the time of the nuclear disaster from Chernobyl, encapsulation the moments before, during, and after the event, making it incredibly accurate. Even though most productions have their roots on a true story, many of them have the tendency to overexaggerate with their dialog and story progression. The main reason for that is to keep the viewer engaged in the current unfolding of events in the show or to give them an unexpected factor.
Chernobyl is different from other true story based movies and TV shows, as they usually tend to have in their cast people with higher influence and trying to give them scenes in which he/she has not seen before. As we mentioned, Chernobyl is different, why? because for the majority of its length it does not deviate from the actual truth of what happened. Everybody heard about what happened at Chernobyl, everyone knows that there was a nuclear explosion but very few of us actually knew what exactly happened there and how the events unfold. At this is what all the episodes from Chernobyl show us. Because of its unquestionable accuracy and dedication of presenting the harsh truth, Chernobyl can easily be considered a high-quality documentary. Provides a fascinating experience for its viewers, and because of the scale of its production, Chernobyl is one of the most horrifying things they will see this entire year. One mentionable scene from episode 4, when the courageous so-called ‘biorobots’, humans, happens in real-time, offering the viewers the possibility to truly understand the fears those humans faced when they were on the roof on the nuclear plant, knowing that if they look down into the reactor, they would not get to live for long. Chernobyl never falters, not even once in all its five episodes. The story jumps from one point to another, from one thing to the next and so on, and even goes a few days or months later, but it always maintains the same level of quality, not forgetting the intelligent analysis. As not being a documentary, it does not just present the events and how they happened, it shows the throughout investigation and commitment. HBO’s Chernobyl is without a doubt a passion project of Mazin’s, and we hope this is not the last one we will get.
