Cultural Beliefs In Colours And Religious

This paper has a qualitative investigation of the experiences of colours and religion which are also two social aspects experienced by two different cultures Indian (Sikhism, Hindu) and Canadian (Christian). According to my experience, because I grew and brought up in INDIA. Here, all the rituals and ceremonies are probably the same they have their same beliefs and motives like worship for happiness. According to my experiences and research on skin colours cultural racism between the Indians and Canadian. Indians have a variety of skin colours along with that as all we know that India has 29 states each state has its own traditions, cultures and rituals significance. India is known as a region or I can say a developing country which is not famous as like as Canada.

Moreover, Indians have a great history and more racism as compared to Canadian. In ancient time, In India the term varna(colours) used to classify the cultural categories for example around 2,500 years ago society had divided into four classes Aryans subdivided into 3 classes priests (varna white), warriors with red colour, peasants with yellows and serfs with black. Aryan was known as upper class and serfs lower. Indian beliefs and Canadian beliefs are totally different regarding cultures tradition faith and rituals. Furthermore, I learnt something from my grandmother she used to teach me something about our Indian culture. From that, I knew that years ago, Indians thought that faith and belief depend on the skin color whereas “Canadian, they did not think” and even they are not thinking like this till this date. Moreover, “Indigenous people” (Canadian) share their beliefs, understand their own and other cultures, does not matter they are rich or poor, white or black, they just know only humanity, self-respect, love and care. The author Nina said that “skin colour and other aspects of appearance had no influence on a person’s faith”. (G.JABLONSKI, 2012, p. 114). Before, In Hindus system mostly people known as Aryan ( “noble” and “Honorable”) Aryan: they are sub-divided into four classes they have their own beliefs like upper-class people had more faith in god because there skin was white, white color shows the purity whereas people who were of black skin they did not have authority to pray in front of god even though they are not allowed to enter inside the temple. Priests thought that the lower-class people will destroy the purity of the god and temple. People who belonged with upper-class they perceived people’s faith trust honesty loyalty according to their skin color cultural belief. The main thing I have learnt through this paper is that Canadian and Indian both are multicultural countries. India is known as the birthplace of different religion four religion are main and those are Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Muslims and Sikhism. The highest percentage of the population identifies as Hindu then others and the lowest percentage of the population as Sikhs and Christians.

Moreover, colors play an imperative role in every country’s culture, ethnicities have color cultural symbols. Whereas, different cultures have different cultural believes but the common thing is “colors spread happiness”. Indians have a secular methodology on colors they called it HOLI festival, which is popular for various color depicts as a happiness, freedom, history of the Hindu culture and further it is celebrated on March 2nd, children, youngsters, teenagers, elders and old age people can celebrate this culture, or I can say that play this festival. I also used to play this festival when I was in India, we used natural colors we putt these colors on people, people also exchange their gifts, also handmade sweets give to their family members, relatives and friend. With the help of colours, we can share some beautiful memories along with contentment as well as it has social racism religiously in India and Canada. I am going to share my own life experiences and research. The wedding and the colours cultures are an ancient’s cultures contributed to world history, they developed a religious bond, to some extent cultures also prevent the culture barriers along with that it makes a bridge between two or more different countries, cultures, provinces. In addition to it, Weddings colours have different rituals like in INDIA people (bride and bridegroom) show their happiness by wearing colorful clothes whereas Canada (Christian) they prefer black and white, which Indian wear in sorrow and grief. Discrimination and prejudice are problematically practiced in white Canadian university as well as in Indian. In Canadian, mostly people experienced racism within the educational institution. “consequently, members were forced to survive in a hostile environment with the challenges in teaching, tenure, evaluation, funding, research and promotion” (Samuel & wane, p. 84). Furthermore, the colour racisms have also a great impact on Indian similarly like Canadian they have tremendous effect skin colour. Nina says that “attitudes towards the skin colour reflect the complexities of the country’s geography” (G.JABLONSKI, 2012, pp. 164-166). Moreover, the authors also claimed that it indicates the social and Indian religious history. According to my practices, 3-4 decades ago mostly Indian gave preference to “lighter skin” (G.JABLONSKI, 2012, p. 164) women for marriage and “Kant was convinced that skin colour symbolises the qualities and morality”. It is the most influenced racism in this world (G.JABLONSKI, 2012, p.
