Dark Lives Matter against Jim Crow Laws in a New-Age Developments

Throughout Frankenstein’s life he was being constantly told he isn’t good enough that he will never amount to anything more than his family, but that isn’t really living. He lives through his own aspiration to give life to the lifeless. Throughout Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Victor is faced with problematic decisions that he will have to decipher. Victor’s decisions will determine the outcome of himself and those around him. Although Frankenstein is efficacious in creating his creature, Frankenstein’s decisions often lead to the distraction of himself and others, illuminating the constant idea that Shelley warns readers about the dangers of ambition.

Early in the novel readers get a recurring idea of Victor’s love for science and his ambitious decisions to create new life. This aspiration that victors has to mess with nature will soon bring him to the realization of the dangers of ambition. Shelley uses the line “I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation”, to display the idea of Frankenstein’s going above and beyond the laws of science when creating his creature. Growing up victor wanted to exceed the expectations of others through science, when victor had the idea to create his monster, he proceeded to create his monster even against the will of those around him.

Victor having consequences for his profound actions are often a big subject in Frankenstein. Victor makes very ambitious Decisions that seem well planned out but often lead to destruction. Shelley makes Victor into a zealous character in the novel Frankenstein, Victor's selfishness and big ego often lead to bad decisions with even worse outcomes. Towards the start of the novel Victor experiences seeing the tree get hit by lighting resulting in the idea to create his creature. After Victor creates his monster it comes to his attention that it may not turn out as it seems; as pointed out when Shelley says “But I am a blasted tree; the bolt has entered my soul; and I felt then that I should survive to exhibit what I shall soon cease to be- a miserable spectacle of wrecked humanity, pitiable to others and miserable to myself”. Victor is coming to the realization that creating his monster didn’t solve what he wanted he is just as he was before, when creating his monster he through it would be a new scientific discovery and by making the decision to pursue his goal ultimately lead to even more problems. In the end when victor is done telling his story to Robert Walton he first says that he would like to look over all that Robert Wrote about his story not only is that condescending but aggravating but when he gets stuck on the ice he ways after his cremation that was his fascination at the start of the book and the consequences lead to his down fall. “ I come back ignorant and disappointed. It requires more philosophy than I possess, to bear this injustice which patience.”  Victor comes to the realization right before death that he has made the wrong decision. By deciding to create is creature at the beginning of the story he is leading himself to his destruction.

Shelleys uses the recurring idea of victor choosing to isolate himself when it would be beneficial to be around others to create the foreshadowing with the fact that when victor is by himself bad things happen to those close to him. One after the other when victor makes the ambitious decisions to isolate himself he becomes depressed and it affects his ability to make decisions and often when the creature targets victors friends and family. 'I saw plainly that he was surprised, but he never attempted to draw my secret from me; and although I loved him with a mixture of affection and reverence that knew no bounds, yet I could never persuade myself to confide to him that event which was so often present to my recollection but which I feared the detail to another would impress more deeply.' when creating his monster victor not jointly isolate himself physically he isolates himself in his mind. Not telling anyone and not confiding in anyone with his secrets. By making the ambitious decision to isolate himself victor puts himself in a situation with failure. After everyone victor is close to soon passes victor finds himself alone like he put himself into throughout the whole novel, when victor is finally alone and has no where else to go is when he comes to the realization that before when making the decision to isolate himself has put him a situation. Where that is all he has and that he has lost all that he has known, ther creature having no power left over him when he realizes it all could have been prevented if not for his carelessness and overwhelmingly ambitious “ the compassion of our childhood always possess a certain power over our minds which hardly any later friend any friends can obtain with the loss of his friends and family all because of a creation he made out of his own heedlessness has made him isolate himself from those he loved and from those who give him strength and with nothing left to live for and being alone at last victor reached his final resting spot.

Too much ambition is detrimental when it gets to the point where you’re hurting someone else. Although ambition can lead to wonderful success, an excess amount of ambition can also be dangerous, putting you at risk of burnout, stubbornness and even a shorter life. Victor had an overwhelming amount of ambition to the point where his decision making was doing more harm than good. Harm was being done not only mentally to himself but physically to his loved ones. Ambition is like power. In the hands of good it can move oneself forward but in the hands of the cocky and boastful it can destroy oneself from the inside out. This ambition in a way is like a disease, it spreads throughout the mind changing the way one thinks and the way one acts. It’s only a matter of time before the ambition takes control.
