Discussion On Whether Mems Are Considered As Cyber Bullying
I need to make a confession to you guys. I made a very terrible action. I did not know this small move of mine will affect this much. It's a very terrible crime; I can be sued for doing this. I am regretting that action of mine in which, I just shared a meme. All of you must have heard about memes right? If not let me give you an example. Funny right? This person is now suffering from psychological depression because of this meme. Is it worth it? I don't think so. Now let us think, are memes considered as cyber bullying? I have these 3 points that tackles about memes as a form of cyber bullying. First is the effects to the subject, second the similarities and last when will it be a form of cyber bullying. I want you to listen well about this issue because I want you all to be open-minded and sensitive enough in every action that we do. Being happy is not enough to step on someone's personality because now, a laugh from our mouth may increase depression's count. First point, what are the effects of memes in the subject, especially in his/her mental health? I have read this article about a girl who a got conscious about what she will post on her own social media account, again on her own account. Why? Because she had a phobia that her pictures might be used for memes again, she experienced cyber bullying in usage of memes. Why would people do that? Because we are not aware that a laugh from our mouth may increase depression's count.Another point, what are the similarities of memes and cyber bullying? Yes, they are both present in social media but memes are created to be funny or make people laugh so how did that concept turned into a horrible one?
Simple, according to James Stanfield, people rarely stop to think about the people featured in the picture. It is a form of selfishness and cruelty that connects to bullying because bullying is the mistreatment of someone vulnerable by someone stronger. Do you get my point? But why do people keep on doing this? Because we did not know that a laugh from our mouth may increase depression's count. My last point is when do memes become cyber bullying? This is about the process of creating the meme. If the person is unaware that he/she will be a subject in a funny picture the, it is bullying. Who would want fame in a very embarrassing process? Imagine this. You are walking and everyone you are passing by is whispering or laughing or looking into your soul and here you are just walking, clueless but curious. Happiness does not have to be this brutal but why are we doing that? Because we did not know that a laugh from our mouth may increase depression's count. I hope these points about memes that tackles about the effects, similarities and when does a meme become cyber bullying helps us realize that not because we are happy means that it is good. A single person can stop this crisis about depression, now us we can start crashing cyber bullying and increase awareness. We should be aware that a laugh from our mouth may increase depression's count.
