What is an idol? Idol is a character who stands out from the crowd due to prime achievement. Idol will play an important role among the youngsters today. Sometimes youngsters would have excessive admiration or devotion to someone is especially characteristic of youngsters and their transition to adulthood. For example, the youngsters’ bedrooms would be covered with posters of their idols. In this era, some youngsters will also open blogs to devote or discuss their idols. There are several effects of idol worshipping among youngsters today.

First of all, one of the effects of idol worshipping among youngsters today is idols blindly affect the health of youngsters. As we know, some idols would have some addiction with drugs, a lot of youngsters blindy imitate their idols and become addicted to drugs and even start smoking from childhood. For example, when students are asked why they start smoking, most of them will answer that they wanted to look like their favourite screen actor or idol while smoking cigarettes. This example makes it clear that idol worshipping among youngsters has an effect on the health of young individuals.

Secondly, an effect of idol worshipping among youngsters today is when youngsters follow their idol and it will affect the personality of young people in a bad way. Youngsters not only like to follow the dress and makeup of their favourite actor and idol, but also often follow their behaviour. For example, in a poll conducted by an America magazine, it was found that most of teachers and parents would complain that their students or children use abusive or derogatory words at schools or at home. So, this example shows that the idol worshipping among youngsters would affect them in a bad way.

Next, the effect of idol worshipping among youngsters today is when changing youngsters’ opinion about their idol becomes more difficult when they already have an obsessive fixation and see their idol as their primary role model. This is a problem when their idols have poor behaviour in public. For example, their idols who play roles in TV shows may dress inappropriately in free time or the red carpet would carry out a wrong body image or outward appearance for youngsters.

Therefore, it is recommended to youngsters that do not follow idol blindy and should be educated so that they may hope for a bright future.
