Evolution Of Domesticated Animals: Dogs And Cats
Dogs have accompanied man for about 10,000 years, this was the first animal domesticated by humans. Dogs are commonly known to have an ancestor as the wolf or wolf of Southeast Asia, although it has been a long time since this, the dogs still have small traits of wild instincts such as wanting to mark their territory by urinating in that place, and also the dogs bury their bones or toys to keep them and dig them up after the same way their wild relatives did. After hunting, they bury their prey to hide them in this way to ensure a good banquet for later.
Dogs often communicate differently with other dogs as well as with humans, through gestures, body movements, traces of smell, body posture among others. Many of these signals can be recognized by humans, like when dogs move their tail we know he is happy, if he pulls his teeth it means he is angry, also they usually lower their heads when they know they have done something wrong in front of their master. Vocally the dogs communicate by barking, growling and howling. While the dog is considered the best friend of man since ancient times, the history of the cat and the human being have had many controversies since the vision of the human being towards the cat has changed throughout time, since being venerated by the Egyptians in antiquity to being one of the worst superstitions of the human being and burned at the stake in the middle ages.
The first domestication of the cat was in Egypt 2000 BC, but in 2004 a fossil discovery was made of the remains of a cat next to a human being that would mean that the interaction of the cat with the human being could be from 7000 to 7500 BC. The ancestor of the cat could be very close to the wild African cat, so the first human cat interaction could be related with the appearance of agriculture, as this attracted mice and rats that in turn attracted their natural predators, cats.
Both species were domesticated by humans, however, they handle a lot of physical, emotional or sentimental differences. Usually the dog shares more time with the man and is interested in what he does and plays with it and can’t bear to be alone. For a long time, the cat is usually lying all day sleeping and snuggling, they usually do not have much interest when sharing with humans, so when a human being calls and the cat receives the message, they approach when they fancy that, unlike the dog where he would run right away where his master is.
Other differences between these two animals is that dogs can be bathed from time to time without problems, while cats "bathe" alone with their own tongue, though very few cats like to be bathed with water because they can take a surly attitude. If there is an emergency such as a robbery or a fire the dogs are alerted immediately and they start barking incessantly while the cats simply try to find a way out of the house and it is not because the cat wants to leave you, is only that they follow their instincts.
