Exploring the Complex Notions of Freedom: Mapping the Concept
Before, I begin this question I often ask myself What is freedom? Then I answered that “freedom is the decision I make it is a choice which I make to take responsibility on my own.” In my opinion, freedom does come with responsibility. Every person in this world like famous spiritual guru, philosopher, author, politician, citizen, speaker and so on have different meaning and explanation. This is freedom reflection essay where I want to share my viewpoint of this topic.
Freedom looks different from each angle. There is no particular definition to it. They all shared the feeling of their own. Lets, go back into the era of Rama and Krishna, the great Emperors in Hindu Mythology. People often think that they are free because they are mighty God. They are the creators and genius engineers behind the making of cosmos, and a black hole, but they also have the responsibility to keep the cycle moving, keep it intact and well-balanced.
From the day of our birth, we are rule-bound. It's nothing to do with religion, caste, gender or freedom of speech. It is to do with the things, and actions we as human suppose to do on earth as the only living an animal with commonsense and other five senses. We are free to imagine, to have hope, emotional intelligence, to have a goal in life and to make own choices. No one in this world can enter into our brain and control our nervous system to change the thinking or working of the human body system, it's us who creates hindrances to our thoughts or emotional behavior. The more you are mature the more you are free, the other way round, the more you are insane and sinful the more you are into the bondage of curse.
There is nothing called absolute freedom. For me, death is absolute freedom. In today's world, if I talk about freedom it's all related to either political issues, economic issues or global issues. Here, the definition of freedom is based on conditions and a different scenario. Every human being has equalled curb on freedom assigned by nature and human laws, once the limit gets crossed it violated the freedom of others. If we have a serial killer around our area, definitely the freedom of normal people around him get affected.
The constitution freedom which we practice and need to practice is freedom of speech, freedom of religious belief and worship, free choice of occupation, Right to Freedom of Movement. There are some rights still practiced in India that is Liberty to spit cough and pan in public and on white walls, have the full right to click photos illegally by hiding cameras, Freedom to urinate and excrete by the side of the road throwing plastics and plates on railway tracks, and also on public places, even after the foundation of'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.” Liberty to break traffic rules and drives on the wrong side of the road. Freedom to sing patriotism songs and celebrate Independence Day while stepping on the national flag which the hawkers used to sell. Freedom to bribe anyone and allow goons to earn hard cash.
In conclusion, there is a saying to look upon that is- “Freedom is not something that anybody can be given. Freedom is something people take, and people are as free as they want to be” ― James Baldwin.
