Facing the Reality of Global Warming: Overview of the Issue

Why do we ignore global warming after we know it might destroy Earth? Global warming affects every creature on Earth. It threatens the future ahead of us. Activists all around the world are trying to make a difference in our world, so why can’t we? In Berlin, Germany, kids are abondoning school to fight for their future and their rights. Kids are trying so hard for this planet for, and for their generation. This is global warming is real essay in which this topic will be considered.

Is Global Warming That Bad?

Global warming can slowly flood our precious planet day by day. Global warming is when greenhouse gases are released into the air and gets trapped in the atmosphere. The harmful gases can trap sunlight, which causes the heating of our Earth. Maybe you’re thinking, “So?” Global warming can be slowed down, but maybe not entirely stopped. So that’s why protesters are bearing the concequences to protect this beautiful planet.

“We are not sinking, we are fighting”

On Friday, Pacific islands like Kiribati, the Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu kicked off a strike. Posts and videos showed the protesters chanting, “We are not sinking, we are fighting!” In Austrailia, 350,000 people are estimated to be striking, including school children and workers encouraged by authorities to take part. From the pacifc islands, the protesters spread across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Students in Accra, Ghana says global warming has sped up coastal erosion, which makes it harmful and dangerous for people living near the coast. As protests sprouted in 500 towns and cities across Germany, the counry’s coalition government used €54bn to prevent greenhouse gases from being used

What’s Hoing to Happen Next?

The teenage activist, Greta Thunburg, was greeted with chants and cheers as she entered New York’s Battery Park. “This is the biggest climate strike ever in history, and we all should be proud of ourselves because we have done this together,” Greta said. Thunburg said about four million people were involved in this protest against climate change. “And we’re still counting,” she says. “This is only the beginning,” Greta said. She ended the speech with these words,“Change is coming whether they like it or not.” Overall, people all around the world are standing up for a chance to save our planet - maybe even the only one we have left.
