How Continuous Education And Hard Work Contributed To My Career Path
In a world full of competition, power and disappointments, I managed to achieve something at both life contexts, socially and professionally. I did this by challenging myself, continue learning and last but not least work hard aiming at fulfilling my dreams. This essay shall discuss how continuous education and hardwork contributed to my career path and indeed had a positive impact on my leadership skills. In addition, I will demonstrate the factors and reasons for supporting the theory that embraces the saying "Leaders are born".
Firstly, continuous learning is always fruitful, it enriches your knowledge and keep you updated, for example, attending workshops and training sessions are foundational tools that elevates you professionally. I personally believe that the more you learn and mingle across different theories and mind-sets, exposing yourself to new challenges, the better and wiser person you become. Attending many training courses throughout my career journey even those that were not related to my job had developed my presentation and managerial skills, as I never discontinued learning . Participating voluntarily in User acceptance testing for some banking systems which I had no clue about is another example of challenging my abilities. All of this had distinguished me from other peers who had limited intentions to learn.
Secondly, if we compare 2 major theories about leadership, one that supports the idea of leaders are born, those supporters rely on scientific facts about human intelligence and inherited behaviors and go by saying:" He is born a leader", but unfortunately they have forgotten that the surrounding environment plays a role in building up a character. For example, throughout my career path, I had ups and downs and though frustration had hit my door, I still and in no time managed to pick myself up considering all those obstacles that confronted me are challenges and proved to others that I deserve to become a manager by presenting outstanding performance and knowing more than most of the people I worked with, hence, I became a leader though I was not born one.
On the other hand, the other theory that suggests that Leaders are made and whom I support, have studied in-depth the factors that create a leader, have for example done some experiments to test the effect of surrounding environment, the life style and the quality of education one receives and concluded that one can become a leader if he combines the knowledge and skills and most importantly put these two elements of success in practice.
Moreover, it is to be noted that I currently hold the position of The Head of Products Development and Marketing in Bank ABC, I have been upgraded to assistant vice president band couple of years ago, and throughout my career path I benefited from seniors who inspired me, leaders of whom ways of managing others was both unique and enthusiastic. I have always done the same by leading my team in a style, encouraging them, inspiring them and challenging them all the way. This had a positive impact on my team, affected positively the quality of duties performed under our umbrella.
Finally, I look forward to enhance my knowledge and skills by being part of this esteemed MBA program, learning new theories, get close to expertise in the field of leadership to benefit from their experience, be able to defeat my mistakes, realize my weaknesses, be able to stand up for my believes, reduce the amount of time paid to complete my professional assignments, and last but not least become a distinguished leader.
