The Internet's Power: Its Influence on Our Lives and Society
Is internet usage impact individual’s life and relationship for better or worse? In how internet affect our life essay this topic will be discussed.
Internet is a boon or bane as per the person uses it, though the boundary sometimes gets unclear. On a general basis, internet is considered to negatively impact the society as it is addictive and distances people living under the same roof. While it can be counteracted by mentioning that it makes information accessible and aids people to get in touch with families and friends, who might be living poles apart. As in all moments of major technological change, people, companies, and institutions feel the depth of the change, but they are often overwhelmed by it, out of sheer ignorance of its effects.
One of the many constructive aspects of internet is that it makes the data accessible without having to physically go anywhere for a certain task, such as banking, shopping, communicating or just IoT. Internet banking, e-shopping or electronic communication is time and energy efficient. It makes things available just in seconds, without having to move from our comfort zone. Social media is a boon as it enables people to get in touch with their close ones. It gives a stage for introverts to express themselves without having to meet people face to face. Internet being so accessible and informative, it sets a platform for limitless knowledge and information. It provides a large net of connections for marketing purposes in business.
On the other hand, there’s several issues linked to the usage of internet. Internet addiction is visible not just in adults, but also in toddlers. The toddlers demanding phones to watch videos continuously on phone is not uncommon anymore. Likewise, some adults have troubles not touching the phone while in lectures, meetings or dates. On a general basis, since most data is available online, we rely less on our brains to memorize it and more on the internet search; be it for general knowledge, for calculations or for keeping notes. Having said that internet makes data highly accessible, it makes us attend less events outside the home and have less interaction with the society, which might later lead to depression, loneliness, or have poor emotional and social skills. Not just that people tend to interact less with their family or friends, even though internet helps people communicate with people living in total different geographical regions. It decreases social well-being, even though it is often used as a communication tool.
Internet usage is a trend that society really needs to monitor carefully. Social media is an added method now available for interacting with friends and family, but one can't share a coffee with somebody on email or give them a hug.
