Hybrid Battery - the Best Modern Replacement for Ordinary Batteries
In the year 1997 , Toyota Motor Japan, introduced a new car to the world named as Toyota Prius. They termed it a “Hybrid battery car”. World was amazed to see this technology , but there were a lot of questions into the mind of people that, what’s actually hybrid term stands for? Is this technology beneficial for them? Can it deal with the deteriorating environmental issues of the world? These were some of the questions that were arising in the minds of the people.
And the Toyota's answer was, yes, it can deal with all issues people of the world currently dealing now . It can benefit common man by its exceptional fuel average saving his hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. And it’s carbon emissions is also very less than the standard carburetors engines. At the time it seemed that the introduction of this technology would help in solving many issues of the world.
What is Hybrid Battery?
Hybrid battery is just like any other battery but the only thing that distinguish it from a ordinary battery is its recharging capability. Hybrid battery have basically two electrodes that are dipped in the iron rich electrolyte. In order to prevent short circuit both electrodes are separated by polymer film. Although Hybrid battery is termed as a single battery but it is actually a battery pack which comprises of many individual cells. If we take example our mobile phones have one single cell battery, but laptops and hybrid automobiles have multiple cells battery, because they require more power to run.
Types of Hybrid battery:
- Nickle metal hydride battery.
- Lithium ion battery or Li-ion battery.
- Lead acid battery.
Function and Working of Hybrid Battery
Hybrid batteries are mainly used in the hybrid automobiles. If we discuss its working , in present all the hybrid automobiles comes with a combustion engine and at least with one electric motor. Electric motor assist the combustion engine in running the car, but electric motor solely cannot run a vehicle. Hybrid battery gives electric power to the electric motor. We cannot plugin hybrid to charge, Hybrid batteries charge itself by means of “Regenerative braking”. Regenerative braking system is basically a system that convert kinetic energy into electrical energy upon the braking of the vehicle. Hybrid batteries are mainly used in the hybrid vehicles hybrid vehicles and Hybrid solar inverters, through which we can provide electricity to our home.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages:
- Low fuel consumption.
- Vehicles are less dependent on fossil fuels.
- Vehicles are environmental friendly they emit out less carbon monoxide (CO).
- Some governments such as the UK government are giving tax incentives to those individuals who are buying hybrid vehicle.
Disadvantages:
- Hybrid batteries are considerably unreliable technology.
- Replacement and maintenance charges are very expensive.
- The Hybrid battery takes up extra space and also add weight to the vehicle.
Conclusion
As the world is moving forward and technology is evolving day by day at a very fast pace. So in my opinion there are a few types of batteries that can replace the hybrid battery in the future. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that the hybrid battery is the basis of modern technological world.
