An Active University Student – A Successful Student
University student or abbreviated as uni-student is termed for a person who is continuing his/her study in college. It could be government college, private college, or even official school. Naturally, uni-student can be divided into two, based on how busy he/she is in his/her daily activities. Those are an active uni-student and a passive uni-student. An active uni-student is a person who is participating actively and contributing to communicate in a forum when the lecture is started. Furthermore, an active uni-student is commonly joining the other activities out of schedule in the class, such as extracurricular, organization, etc.
Meanwhile, a passive uni-student is a person who is doing his/her activity only when there is a schedule in the class, come to the university when he has a lecture without following another activity that is out of schedule. This topic is very interesting to be known because there are differences between an active uni-student and a passive uni-student’s level of success in the moment until in the future. Nowadays, the level of success for each person is not only relying on high GPA (Grade Point Average) or probably academic achievements, but also personal soft skills is needed which will be evaluated by the observer, HRD or Human Resource Development (if someone wants to apply for a job), and society itself.
First of all, talking about differences between an active uni-student and a passive uni-student’s success level in the moment while studying in a college. Being an active uni-student means that he/she can get benefits from himself/herself automatically. These benefits are due to his/her ability for managing his complicated daily activities. Directly, the active uni-student can also improve his/her ability in speaking. He/she can be improving his/her courage to speak in front of audience, being accustomed to be seen by so many people without hesitation, being brave to give his/her point of view about some problems, thinking quickly and critically for solving some cases, finding more friends, managing time competently, having new knowledge and experiences, making correct decisions, etc.
On the other hand, being a passive uni-student means that he/she can’t get all things which have already mentioned before. He/she also loses his/her time for discovering something new, loses his/her chance to do experiment, and loses his/her chance to increase his/her soft skills. Even as he/she becomes the passive one and doesn’t want to change his/her attitude because of his/her habitual, he/she will find difficulties to manage his/her time although his/her activity is not as hectic as an active uni-students. According to the survey that is got by social media found that 98 percent of people prefer communicate to an active uni-student. They said that they find a fit feeling when they speak with the active one. While, they find more awkward situation and confusing conversation when they speak to the passive uni-student.
Secondly, the point of view about the level of success between an active uni-student and a passive uni-student in the future is also interesting because this topic is the main purpose of a uni-student after graduating from the university. This is talking about the options for uni-student to choose between being success or failed in the future. Based on the survey that is found from active social media users’ shows that 90 percent of people are agree that an active uni-student is potentially success in the future while the other 10 percent means that a passive uni-student still has a chance to be success in the future, just if there is a miracle, or maybe thanks to his willingness to change even better.
So, based on the differences between an active uni-student and a passive uni-student, we may see the different character significantly which is built by the daily activities we have chosen. We can draw a conclusion that being an active uni-student is a good choice and a good way to be successful, it starts from now and forward, not only success in his/her job but also in society.
Do’s and Dont’s to be successful uni-student as follows:
Do’s
- Try to speak up when there is a chance
- Do the other activities beside schedule in the class
- Find motivation by communicating with peers or everyone else
- Make a plan for the future start by now
- Be active in every situation.
Don’ts
- Over thinking about some problems
- Be lazy to do more activities
- Close your heart and mind from the others opinion or advice
- Don’t have willingness to be better
- Be passive in every condition.
To be successful uni-student, we must be active and not to be passive because when we are active, at least we try to be more competence and be ready to fight in the easy situation until hard situation than the passive one who keep silent and doesn’t be productive. Steve Maraboli stated “in order to be successful uni-student who can survive being successful person in moment until in the future, we must do some efforts to make it comes true because when we take an action, an inch of movement will bring us closer to our goals than a mile of intention”.
