LTAD-SN Red Dot Laser Sights: Device And Functioning

The article is intended for studying the device, operation, operation rules of the laser LTAD-SN designator. The laser (red dot laser sighting device) LTAD-SN (hereinafter referred to as the product) is intended for aiming when firing from a weapon equipped with a “Picatinny rail” type guide MIL STD 1913 or “weaver” in night illumination and in Combination with night vision goggles. The battery is installed in the battery compartment in accordance with the marking on the case and is closed with a cover. The cover of the supply compartment, to avoid loss, is attached to the body of the product by a lead. The connection between the battery compartment cover and the housing is sealed with a rubber ring.

The product is switched on from the operating mode switch and the contact device.The mode selector switch has the following positions: OFF: the product is switched off and A: the designator is switched on in the constant-emission mode, with the radiation power: for LTAD-SN is 0.5 mW. The designator is switched on in the constant-emission mode, the radiation power: for LTAD-SN is 10 mW. The product is switched on by pressing the button of the contact device, the designator is switched on, with the radiation power: for LTAD-SN is 0.5. The contact device is connected to the housing by means of a socket with a union nut. The button of the contact device is attached to the thread or handle of the weapon by means of a fastening tape.

The step-by-step reconciliation mechanisms are designed to correct for height and direction. As the clockwise screws rotate, the radiation spot on the target shifts up and to the left, while rotating counterclockwise respectively, down and to the right. Screws of reconciliation mechanisms are closed with protective covers. The fixing of the product on a guide like “Picatinny rail” or “weaver” is made by clamping the bar with nuts.

Before reconciling on the weapon of a product that was not previously in use, produce at least 10 shots to stabilize the mechanisms of reconciliation of the product under the impact of shock loads. Reconciliation of the product is carried out after checking the combat of the weapon (with a regular aiming device) or bringing it to normal combat and under the same conditions in the following order: install the product on the weapon, to fix the weapon in the sighting machine and to guide the sight to the same aiming point on the open, set up the same way as when checking the combat of weapons, and turn on the product in mode A or B. Moreover, it is important to unscrew the covers from the reconciliation mechanisms, combine the center of the radiation spot with the aiming point by rotating the alignment screws with a screwdriver or a sleeve.

Furthermore, the wrap covers reconciliation mechanisms and to carry out control shooting with the product under the same conditions as when checking a combat of weapons with an open sight, it is significant to eliminate the deviation of the midpoint of the hit from the control point, counting the amount of offset in the reconciliation steps: each click of the reconciliation mechanism corresponds to a displacement of the radiation spot by 5 cm when firing at a shield set at a distance of 100m.
