Luther, Lincoln and Kennedy: Equal Power for Social Change
An individual has the power to change society when he/she is an action-taker, understanding and confident. And history has plenty of real examples of such people. In “Luther, Lincoln and Kennedy similarities” essay we will briefly examine what influence did they make.
MLK (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) has the power to change society due to being an action-taker in the Civil Rights Movement with many other important people. According to MLK, “preaching a philosophy of nonviolence,he galvanized people of all races to participate in boycotts, marches and demonstrates against racial injustice”. He took the chance to help spread the word of the Civil Rights Movement. MLK once said “his moral leadership stirred the conscience of the nation and helped bring about the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964”. He helped show what the government is doing is wrong and uncivilized towards the people of different races and helped show the right way towards equal rights for all.
RFK (Robert F. Kennedy) has the power to change society due to being understanding by referring to how he knows the feeling/shock of losing someone important in their life. According to RFK, “I had a member of my family killed, but he was killed by a white man”. He shows that he knows the feeling of losing someone. RFK once said, “But we have to make an effort in the United States, we have to make an effort to understand, to go beyond these rather difficult times.” This shows that he understands this is a tragic event and we must move on and push to make a better country.
Some people may think politics can’t make a change in society, but Abraham Lincoln did. For example, Abraham Lincoln impacted the citizens with the Gettysburg address and his motivation made the Union win the a battle they thought they will never win because Abraham
Lincoln reminded them what they are fighting for. “He was looking back at the Founding Fathers, the Declaration of Independence and the pursuit of human equality”. This shows how a simple speech can impacted and motivate so deeply and have a great impact on society.
To top it all off, an individual has the power to change society when he/she is an action-taker,understanding, and confident. The speeches can impact the United States gradually and also made others have different view points on each other. Discrimination gradually decreased because of this movement and made other treat people differently than before.
