Me Too Movement - the Consequence of Sexual Harassment
The world has sent its mission to the Sun and that's definitely a great news for all of us but the next big immediate question - 'do we really work as hard to curbing some unethical, immoral menace like sexual harassment and assault from the society as we do to send such missions to the Sun, Moon or the Mars? The answer is definitely no. Lewd remarks, vulgar comments, wolf-whistles, touching which lead to big crimes like rape became so common in all the societies and cultures that one instead of questioning and making some complaint rather choose to tolerate silently. The movement like #me too or Me too campaign is just proving the prevalence of such threat in societies. Now what is sexual harassment and what lead to #me too.
What is Sexual Harassment?
'Sexual Harassment is any kind of unwanted or undesired acts of threatening someone or a weaker person to take sexual advantages by means of physical, verbal or written conducts or it can be simply a harassment which is sexual in nature.' Majority of sexual harassment or assault are directed towards women by men, though different types of harassment cases have been reported till date including LGBTQ cases. But sexual harassment including workplace harassment, bullying, sexual assault can be done by anyone at anytime or at any place. Ignoring any kind of harassment, assaults and discrimination at first instance can lead to grave threat or violence. The report and allegations of sexual harassment at workplace just proving how some powerful being of higher position sexually harasses women working in the media, politics, sports, corporate world and other working ambiance.
The Aftermath of Sexual Harrasment and Assault
This kind of abusive acts or threats often make a person to submit to fate, causes extreme pain and trauma to one's life. Often women resign to their professional life or change the pattern of their day to day life and activities due to fear factor. It becomes difficult for oneself to open up these issues and make a complaint. One often choose to remain quit and suffer in ignominy and fear. It becomes tough for the survivor to cope with a normal life and activities. But needless to say a good support system, a sense of solidarity and a good counseling can help the person to tackle all the problems. Some counseling and healing process I have mention bellow. These may seem dull and more frustrating for an injured person but once it's followed heartily, counseling can help a person tremendously to get back to a normal stage of life.
Try to be the Sun to fight, to light, to live but by burning injustice. #Me too or Me too campaign - these all words just give a sense of power and a breath of justice to me and to you. It is a movement against sexual harassment and assault. The phrase 'me too' was originally used by an American social activist Tarana Burke since 2006 for the purpose of empowering women through empathy. But the phrase 'me too' went viral on social media in 2017 when American actress Alyssa Milano encourages affected women to tweet their harassment stories. It really brought the dark truth of society specially of work place to the ligh. It is helping people to raise voice, to connect emotionally with those who are in need of help and support. In India '#Me too or Me too movement' gathered the momentum when Indian actress Tanushree Dutta spoke out about her harrowing harassment story. #Me too is telling the real scenario of different workplace and giving us a magnitude of such prevalent threat. This is absolutely a welcome move to a humanely evolving world.
More Power to #Me Too or Me Too Campaign
There's a far way to go. It is expected that Me too movement will keep the air with same efficiency and momentum as it is keeping now. It should go hand in hand with honesty and in a corrupt free way.
Children should be made aware of the presence of such deep rooted heinous crimes. A friendly and noticeably informative environment is the need of every child to grow up mentally alert and strong. A child's psychology automatically remarks anything bad happening around them or to them. It will tremendously help them to differentiate things and touch naturally. It is painful to say that if everyone of us start to pressurize our mind to recall our unrecalled childhood memories then probably the number of #Me too stories will increase twice or thrice.

A sum total of a large number of factors are to be considered to reach out to a solution. The society along with legal and administrative system must work effectively in a liberal way to ensure women's safety. It is important to share knowledge about sexual harassment and “Me too” as a whole.
