Mishaal Ashemimry – Aerospace Engineer And Founder Of MISHAAL Aerospace
Her passion and curiosity in space started when she was just a six-year-old girl in the Unayzah Desert, looking up to the night sky astonished by the number and glow of stars. After asking friends and family to explain the stars and space to her and finding no scientific convincing answers she decided to find her own answers and learn how to build vehicles that will allow her to explore space one day.
The first female aerospace engineer in all of the GCC: Mishaal AlShumaimri received scholarships and grants and ended up graduating with a bachelor of Science double major Degree in Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mathematics from Florida Institute of Technology then proceeded to earn a Master’s Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering also from Florida Institute of Technology. Even while studying for her masters mishaal also worked as a Graduate Teaching assistant in FIT where she taught forty students two different courses (Fluid mechanics laboratory and Experimental Aerodynamics laboratory) until she graduated. Consequently becoming not only the first Saudi women but also the first female aerospace engineer in all of the GCC. Now armed with science degrees, Mishaal went on to work for one of the largest defense companies (Raytheon Missile Systems) where she worked on twenty-two different missiles and again became the first Saudi female to specialize and work in that field. She later on left Raytheon to focus on planning and starting her own company (Mishaal Aerospace).
Mishaal Alshumaimri only twenty-six years old at the time founded (Mishaal Aerospace) in 2010 which is based in the united states, headquarters in Miami, Florida. The female-owned aerospace company specialized in designing, manufacturing, and launching their own vehicles for clients including the government, research, commercial aerospace, and telecommunication industries. Her company’s team of engineers offer cost-effective, flexible, and out-of-the-box options for space access. Inspirational Woman of the Year: Realizing the responsibility that she had as the first female aerospace engineer in the GCC, Mishaal used social media platforms such as Instagram, twitter, Snapchat and Youtube to share her story, inspire others to follow their dreams, and educate people about her field. Consequently, she became a public figure and speaker in many GCC and global events. She was awarded multiple awards during her career including the outstanding Junior and Senior award in Aerospace Engineering, as well as the Inspirational women of the year in 2015.
Throughout her career, Mishaal Alshumaimri’s goal was to effect change and make space more accessible. And as a leader she influenced, motivated, and inspired others to follow her and to accomplish her and their own vision and goals. Currently, Mishaal is also a consultant in her field and continues to influence others by educating and inspiring others through conferences, webinars, and her social media channels.
