My Interest In Teaching Computer Science Knowledge

I am very much honored to express my SoP to you. I have received my BSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Hamdard University Bangladesh (HUB), which is one of the premier private universities in Bangladesh. Now I am very much interested in pursuing my graduate studies (Subject name) from your renowned university. While at Hamdard University Bangladesh, I tried to study my academic courses being all eyes. I am very happy to say that I managed to secure 80% marks in most of my computer science courses and particularly excelled in theoretical courses. I was ranked top 3% in my class regarding the overall CGPA, and was the best on the courses of Data Structures, Introduction to Algorithms, Structured Programming, Object Oriented Programming, Discrete Math, Theory of Computing, and Database. I also feel interested in Computer Networking and Communication Systems. However, the lack of research resources in Hamdard University Bangladesh, my alma mater, prevented me from receiving the complete research training in this domain. For this reason, I have taken a complementary course CCNA (Routing & Switching) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I think this will help me in future for my research work. I have also completed some other complementary courses like DMA (Database Management and Administration) and Web Application Development from BUET.

My BSc project work is on “Online Admission and Course Registration System”. Using this system the candidates can be admitted and complete their course registration process. The admin can access semesters, departments, programs, sessions, subjects, syllabuses etc. I have also attended some project showcasing competitions with the projects “Online Blood Bank Management System” and “Inventory Management System”. This experience helped me to understand how to develop a system with good user interface. In my high school and college I heard about programming contest. From this I tried to learn program in my own interest but there is no opportunity for contest. I participated in regional ACM-ICPC programming contest in my undergraduate first year. Since then I have found the real interest in programming challenges. I also participated as a volunteer in programming contest. It gives me great pleasure to participate in programming contest.

My long-term career goal is to be a professor, devoting myself to teaching Computer Science knowledge. To this end, after completing my undergraduate program I joined T&T Women’s College as a lecturer in Computer Science and Engineering where I have been working till now. I think this teaching experience is a great achievement for me because it helps me understand my inner lacking which I overcome day by day through teaching and learning; it also gives me solid experience on how to develop easy and standard presentations, documents, and reports. I have also instructed ‘Digital ICT Lab’ for women’s education development established by Bangladesh government which involves windows server based practical works. After working in this lab, I am now familiar with how to maintain and use a lab. Besides, it gives me hands on experience. I would like to pen down a few words to tell about myself that display my attributes and my preferred style of working. Firstly, I would like to try myself at solving problems before taking helps. In some cases, if I cannot solve any problem then I discuss with my seniors or teachers. Then I believe teaching is the best way to develop my inner and academic knowledge, so I love teaching very much. At last, it is very exciting for me to introduce myself with different kinds of software developing techniques and technologies. I have utilized my off time learning implementation techniques from web-resources and experienced members from institutions and companies. I have heard from Hamdard University Bangladesh faculty about the (University Name). Also my advisor has recommended the institute on the basis of the faculty interest, the research done in the past and the work currently in progress in a short period of time. I am also interested to know that at the present time, the institute has organized both faculty and student exchange programs with a number of universities. I find that the graduate program at your institute suits my interests extremely well.

In conclusion, I do hope that I will be given a fair chance to realize my objectives by being granted admission with financial aid at your institute. My academic credentials combined with my research experience and interest in the area of study that I have selected, give me the confidence that if provided with such an opportunity I would acquit myself creditably in your stimulating academic environment and thereby contribute my own mite to the academic milieu at your institute.
