My Passion Is Why I Want to Study Business

Generally, business is the field dedicated to the organization, analysis and planning of different types of business operations. The ‘’business’’ field is quite broad and nonspecific. Basically, business touches on pretty much every aspect of modern human society. Business is the main topic for “Why I want to study business?' essay.

Brief History of the Field

Business which modern firms are based on, have been around many eras. In the 8th century BC, 3000 years ago, organizations such as Shreni played a major role in the Indian’s economic trade and craft production sectors. By 960 AD China’s Song Dynasty had modern capital structures such as partnerships and joint stock companies. In the 16th and 17th centuries the government-backed firms started to build international trade empires floating stocks and bonds as their goods floated around the world. This time, the British East India company and the Dutch company were organizations that dominated the world economy. The industrial revolution was underway around 1790 and the companies that time, begun to capture the advantages of mechanizing power of steamboats to reduce distribution costs and specialize in commercial activities. In the 1830s, American railroad companies were the first truly modern management organizations, who paid midsize managers, grew almost as fast as the streets themselves. By 1870, those early superhighways lowered the cost of moving goods and information. This era was marked by vertical and horizontal integration. These industry-spanning companies monopolized many commodities and services. These founding companies were replaced by professionally managed companies by the 1920s. Management has developed into a career. And by the 1960s, these managers had run a rapidly expanding world of widespread conglomerates. A new way of thinking came with the turmoil of the 1970s. People wanted to unlock the value trapped in companies, by ensuring that the same interests were shared by investors and management. This began a wave of leveraged purchases. It also focused on short-term outcomes. Which brings us to today businesses.

Important People in the Field

Many people had been very important on the business field but some of them influenced this field more than others. Some of them are:

  • Tim Cook: is the CEO of the most valuable company in the world, Apple. Cook helped Apple navigate the transition after the death of Steve Jobs, and to develop new product lines and open new retail outlets in China.
  • Warren Buffett: is one of the most successful investors in the world.
  • Bob Iger: is the CEO of the Disney Corporation. He has led the acquisitions of large companies such as Marvel, Pixar and Lucas Films. His leadership has also led to the expansion to Shanghai and Hong Kong of Disney theme parks.
  • Bill Gates: founded Microsoft, the world's largest PC software company, and is close to the top of the list of the world 's wealthiest people every year.
  • Sandberg: has successfully transitioned from government work in the Treasury to the Google and Facebook technology industry.
  • Reshma Saujani: is the founder of Girls Who Code, which promotes technology training to girls.

Why I Chose This Field

Many reasons exist why I want to study business. First of all business is part of the language we use when talking about the entertainment, project financing and sport marketing industries. Everything has a 'business' side and of course every industry needs business majors! Business as a field of study is very practical. Another reason I want to study in this field is that you develop crucial communication skills. This is very important because if you are asked to write a convincing report or to present a piece of information you should have great communication skills so you can be able to work with other people. In addition, when you study business you learn how to do accounting so you will be confident enough to drive the performance of your business forward. So you probably have a successful company or business. Last but not least I chose to study business because I want my ideas to stand out in a big audience. Taking business classes can teach everyone to understand their audience and how to appeal to them creatively. This is especially good for people who try to buy in from their colleagues or investors.

Why This Is the Right Job For Me

In my opinion I have all the capabilities wanted to become a businessman. To begin with I like to interact with others, make decisions and get things done, and these are some of the basic characteristics a businessman should have. Also, I can communicate with a variety of people and influence them with some of my opinions. In addition, I am able to lead a company and be professional, in emotional situations or when I do not like some tasks but I am also sensitive and able to understand other peoples problems. For example, many times I was selected with other people to do an assignment that I wasn’t thrilled to do but I cooperated with the other members of the team and we finished it with very good results. I also have the ability to speak up and challenge others even if they encounter resistance or unfamiliar conditions. I think this job suits me well because I don’t have a problem with travelling or representing my company. I also don’t mind being away from home for a long time or attending events. Moreover I think I would feel comfortable with the constant need to meet financial goals and working in a competitive environment. Finally, I believe I would be able to obtain a skilled, motivated and committed workforce. My work may also include ensuring equal opportunities, fairness and transparency, but I will not have a problem with that because I already am a fair person even with people I don’t really like. In conclusion I reckon that for all my skills, experiences and values I have, this job will be great for me.

Job Opportunities in the Business Field

Individuals may find better or increased job opportunities with a business degree. Students have good opportunities to find work after graduating. Internships and work experience will make them even more hirable. So these people will be absorbed immediately because every company needs business majors. Graduates in the field of Business have an average starting salary of $42,153 with a mid-career salary of $74,157. This could differ depending on what major they pursue.

Conclusion

Overall the business field will have the most increased growth in the next 2 years. Furthermore, the business and financial operator will be needed a lot in the future because every country’s financial future will become less predictable, as a result these people will be wanted by every company or business. Another branch of the business field that will have sudden growth, is management. This growth is because of the increased competition and the desire for companies to find new ways of differentiating their products and services. However, because trends and strategies change over time, those who can demonstrate and keeping up with strategy, will be better positioned than others. Nevertheless I'm really passionate about developing future career in the business filed as it's the career path that fits in my view of successful future life.
