Oprah Winfrey Is The Person Of The Year

Oprah Winfrey is the most influential person of 2020. She is an American television personality, actress, and successful entrepreneur. At the age of 9, she was being sexually assaulted by her family members! Her childhood was unquestionably horrifying, and she still managed to get through it with a smile on her face. 'Who wouldn't want to hear her hair-raising story?' She is now the richest African American in the 20th century, with a net worth of USD 3.5 billion. 'Turn your wounds into wisdom' she quoted.

Raped and sexually abused from the age of 9-14 by her family members, young Oprah fell undoubtedly pregnant. Sitting in a filthy, rubbish covered corner in the streets of America, fourteen-year-old Oprah cradles her tummy, as she fears for her unborn child. Not being able to give it the nutrient it needs or a safe environment, Oprah loses hope for her baby. 8-9 months later, Oprah is rushed to hospital in labour going through a long and painful birth, the baby came out pre-mature due to giving birth too early. She had named her baby boy, 'So I have named him, I had a little boy named Canaan,' Winfrey reportedly said. Oprah would only be his mother for just a moment before he died in her arms. She went through so much trauma and pain only to have her precious baby die. Oprah rose above what had happened to her and decided to turn the event into something that built her strength.

'Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more' the words of Winfrey spoke into being. Let the show begin! It all started in the beautiful city of Chicago, 1986 when Oprah Winfrey's talk show had commenced. WLS-TV's half-hour morning talk-show was one of the lowest rating talk shows in Chicago, and just within a few months, Oprah had boosted its popularity to the highest-ranking talk show in Chicago. Doesn't that say something? Winfrey used the show as an educational platform, featuring book clubs, interviews, self-improvement segments, and philanthropic forays into world events. ('Oprah Winfrey show, '2020). People were so fascinated and inspired by Oprah's stories that they were itching to hear more. Episode after episode, Oprah was becoming well known among the United States. Oprah received great quantities of money throughout her talk show but remained extremely humble and even gave her guests generous gifts.

The fame of Oprah was growing every day. 'Don't worry about being successful but work toward being significant and the success will naturally follow'. One of her biggest and most memorable events was interviewing Barack Obama on her show. Oprah was hoping Obama would run for president as he was her favourite senator. Winfrey exerted political influence, endorsing presidential candidate Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. ('Oprah Winfrey interviews Barack Obama on her show, '2006). Astounded by the news that Obama was running for president, Oprah immediately wanted to announce it on her talk show. Invitations were sent out and within a few weeks, Obama and his wife step foot into the highest ranking talk show of Chicago and were then greeted by the famous Oprah Winfrey. Spreading the good word about Obama, thousands of people wanted to vote for him as president. He later won the election, thanking Oprah for her incredible help.

Oprah Winfrey inspired so many people by turning her sorrows and traumas into life lessons. She is extremely wealthy and remains humble and selfless. She always keeps and smile on her face and is continuously helping people. Thankful for everything she had even when she had nothing. She is unstoppable and not many people could go through what she did and end up successful. Oprah Winfrey is the person of the year.
