Overview Of The Empire Of Tang Dynasty

The basic theory of this empire is the flourishment it withheld and for periods of time the empire faced downfalls but gained more power through this and achieved internal strength. This empire did have internal and external problems that diminished the empire through time such as the gradual increase of intolerance for religion and culture, conflicts with other societies and uprisings from peasants. Amy Chua may have included this empire in her book due to the representation of the many strengths this empire had in critical areas for the Tang Dynasty to strive.

This civilization showcased the prosperity of their military, politics, culture, and religion. The empire's success was based off the ruling of the emperor Li who brought military and civil strength that assisted in the prosperity of economy, society, commerce, and religion the of Tang Dynasty. This era was known as the Golden Age since China’s rapid development made their empire advanced on many levels, the leaders who helped this occur were Li Shimin and Emperor Xuanzong. Also, the Tang had contact with others in different countries and scholars traveled to other places to spread religion, politics, culture, technology, and more. The glue that kept the civilization together for so long was the political system which was one of the factors as a strict legal system was imposed which kept the people of the Tang living under certain rules which kept it from falling apart.

Another thing was the culture and religion that influenced that advanced architecture and technology that aided in the empire's success. There was also commerce which led to the foreign trade and built an economy due to the agriculture, technology, and day-to-day items. The pivotal point of failure was their conflicts they created with the division of two classes that created uprisings due to the different views that were held. Another factor was the views of social classes that held people to different standards and unfair treatment that resulted in uprisings. The tax imposement on peasants were higher rates than other social classes this resulted in revolts and conflict that started to cause the empire to shatter. Furthermore, later rulers became less open to ideas, multiple religions being practiced, and dealings with foreign countries that brought propositions. The people that made up the Tang dynasty were people that had a vast amount of skills that every person could do. They were literate and education was focused on and resulted in the creation of medicine, math, writing, and more. The religion that was mainly followed was Buddhism and this religion brought people together.

I truly believe this empire could exist today as its capability to prosper so quickly and advance in technology, science, literature, politics, and culture which built the empire into whole and assisted in the recognition of the empire's success. These skills are still used in the 21st century as China is still very well advanced and resembles the Tang Dynasty.
