Pleasures and Problems of the World Famous Building - Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa was designed by Adrian Smith, Marshall Strabala, William F. Baker and George J. Efstathiou. The company that made it was Samsung C&T. Four people died while constructing the Burj Khalifa. As of 2017, its net worth is $1.55 billion. It required 12,000 workers to build it. In the building, there are offices, there is a hotel, and a swimming pool. Also, on the 124th, 125th, and 148th floor, there are observation decks. Floors 45-108 are ultra-luxury residences.

The Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building, standing at 2,716 feet. It is also the most popular attraction to tourists in Dubai. In 2013, 1.87 million people visited it. It is made of 330,000 cubic meters of concrete. Just the foundation uses 45,00 of that 330,000. 31,400 metric tons of steel rebar was used to reinforce the concrete. It also has on of the tallest swimming pool, which is on the 76th floor, it is around 820 feet above the ground. It is in Dubai, and it is in the middle east. The Burj Khalifa was finished on January 6, 2004. It was built because they wanted to make it the tallest building. Also, because it connects directly to the Dubai mall. It was built to be a home, office, and hotel. It was built like a Y. It had 3 bases, and that connected to the core. Over 40 wind tunnel tests were preformed to see how the wind would affect the tower.

The interior design was made by Chicago office of Skidmore. They put in glass, stainless steel and polished dark stones and sliver travertine flooring. They also installed Venetian stucco walls, handmade rugs and stone flooring. All of these ideas were inspired by local culture and they stayed mindful of the buildings status as a global icon and residence. The construction took 1,325 days to take the record of the world tallest building, with level 141, but they aren’t don’t yet. It took 22 million man-hours to build. They finished in January of 2009, with 160 levels. The official launch ceremony was in January of 2010. It took approximately 6 years to completely finish the Burj Khalifa.

The shapes that were used in the building of the Burj Khalifa were columns, circles, rectangles, triangles. The Burj Khalifa was built by using 330,000 cubic meters of concrete, and 31,400 metric tons of steel rebar to reinforce the concrete. They did many wind tests to see how the building could react to the wind. It took 22 million-man hours to build it. The building still moves around 2 meters at the very top during wind.

The building can withstand 240 km/h winds at the top which is 828 meters high. Also, it can withstand up to a 7.0 magnitude. Yes, I think it is a good structure because it can withstand a pretty bad earthquake, and high-speed winds. It is really tall so you would think that it will fall over easily, but it is built by using many tests to see what it can withstand. I would incorporate the triangle base, which connects to the core of the tower. It spreads the weight that comes down into the core, into the three legs so it is really stable.

So, overall, there can be said a lot about the world tallest building, starting with its height and ending with dozens of tourist attractions inside it. Nevertheless, the gorgeous view hides lots of issues and problems such as safety, people death and so on and so forth.
