Entrepreneurship is firstly defined as the process of designing, launching and running a new business, which is often initially a small business. It can also be defined as the act of creating a business or businesses while building and scaling it to generate a profit. Whereas, an entrepreneur is defined as a person who sets up a business with the aim to make a profit. In other words, an entrepreneur can also be defined as a person who launched his or her own products that she made from a scratch to the world, and is willing to take a bet on their financial risks, with hope of gaining a profit from the products they had launched. In short they are willing to take risks in facing either success or failure while launching their very own handmade, detailed product. There are various types of products and services alike that are available in such modern era as now, be it the enhance cosmetic products, modernised and full of technology electronic gadgets to the improved, organized and systematic transportation, education, entertainment and media services and more. For this assignment, we were asked to choose and write about a product or a service that we have seen in a local market that caught our attention. Among all of the products or services that is abundant, I choose ASUS products that specialised in information technology and communication.
ASUS, founded in 1989 by T. H Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh and M. T Liao, is a Taiwanese multinational computer and phone hardware and electronics company headquartered in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan and is the world’s 5th largest PC vendor by 2017. They has, since then launched various products of the modern technology such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, GPS devices, Desktop and All-in-One PCs and more with their famous tagline In Search of Incredible.
For the purpose of this assignment, I have chosen to do a review and comparison of an ASUS product, their smartphone. Prior before this, I have tried out a few smartphone brands in my early years, and most of them labelled condemned as they don’t really last long, probably due to my slightly clumsy and rough handling on my gadgets. Before owning an ASUS smartphone, my Samsung Galaxy S3 got infected with an internal virus and thus labelled condemned, all of its data can’t be retrieved, sadly. From there on, my cousin recommends me to go for an ASUS smartphone, and I’ve got my hands on one in the year of 2016. At that time the popular ASUS smartphone is the Laser series, and in the end I bought ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser. First of all, Zenfone 2 Laser series came with 2 different type of smartphones, that came under the same name, but with different specs, designs and built-in system. The one that I owned is ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser ZE550KL smartphone. It’s screen resolution is of 720x1280 pixels, screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, and it has a 5. 5 inch screen. Not only that, the smartphone also consists of 2GB of RAM – Random Access Memory, that is vital storage used for a place to hold data and for speeding up the phone for better overall phone performance -, 16GB of internal storage and support for microSD (memory card) up to 128GB. It is also a dual sim smartphone and both sim card support 4G. Connectivity features such as 2G, 3G, Bluetooth, microUSB and WiFi is also available. It also has a back and front camera features that supports both 13 Megapixel (graphic resolution) and 5 Megapixel for the front camera.
Of uniqueness in the product, ASUS smartphone Zenfone 2 Laser Series firstly came with 2 different type of variants, with different built in system, specs and equipment for the sake of improving the phone’s overall performance. The chosen product came with 3000mAH, which causes the phone to last for supposedly almost a day with heavy usage, in other words, the product is equipped with excellent battery life that does not require constant and frequent charging. Not only that, the product has its own special feature such as double tap on the screen to wake up the phone or make it go to ‘sleep’, instead of pressing the lock and unlock button frequently. Such product also does not lag as much, and it’s important for a phone to have less lagging issue, especially to those smartphones that is optimise for game playing and real time news update. The call quality of the product is also excellent as we could hear the caller’s voice clearly.
For photography, Zenfone 2 Laser has its accurate auto focus on photoshoots, which is perfect for capturing every detail of the desired view. 4G connectivity is important nowadays as well, and the product that I have chosen is also equipped with such connectivity that eases me to surf the net anywhere and anytime. Not only that, the product is also equipped with ASUS Eye Care Technology. ASUS Eye Care Technology consist of 3 types – eye care mode, normal mode and vivid mode. Such technology is implemented for the user to experience accurate colour scheme for suitable viewing. I often use the eye care mode instead of the normal mode as eye care mode allows blue light filter to be activated. It is said that blue light filter adjusts the apparent screen colour to reduce blue light which causes strain on one’s eyes.
Last but not least, the product is also equipped with audio wizard that came in with 4 different modes – music mode, movie mode, gaming mode and recording mode. I specifically pay more attention towards both music mode and gaming mode. Music mode is where the product plays the music like how and what the producer wants you to hear, where as gaming mode is where RAM is cleared off often, for the sake of the game’s performance as well as to prevent any lagging issue from happening.
