Real Life And Fictional Killer Ways: Andrei Chikatilo And Grendel From Beowulf
A serial killer who killed children as young as 7 years old to women 45 years old. And a barbaric monster who at up to 30 men in their sleep. Andrei Chikatilo described as necro-sadist meaning someone who achieves sexual gratification from suffering and deaths of others. Grendel had no choice growing up, his ancestors were pure evil and living around them what he learned was that being evil was “good” to them. Grendel and Andrei Chikatilo are similar because they both ate their victims, put fear in others and both overpowered their victims easily. Grendel and Chikatilo both ate their victims, being one of their vicious similarities. “Grendel snatched at the first geat he came to, ripped him apart, cut his body to bites with powerful jaws, drank the blood from his veins and bolted him down”. This quote explains how Grendel would cold bloodedly eat his victims and rip them apart so inhumane.
Andrei Chikatilo shared this monstrous killer characteristics. Just like Grendel. Andrei Chikatilo was the same way, when investigated and they realized they had a serial killer case and it was bringing fear to the people around, so they had people from all over the place helping catch the serial killer “during the case of investigation 15 more victims were found which increased police effort drastically” (Andrei Chikatilo). This quote explains how police increased their effort to trying to stop this killer from killing again. “Grendel hunted when they slept. This quote helps clearly shows how scared and full of that the village was withGrendal and Andrei Chikatilo by showing how people came to help or how anxious everyone was to stop these two killers. These two fictional and real life monsters both went after victims they could overpower easily. “Snatched up thirty beds and ran out with their bodies” (“Beowulf” 37-39). This quote shows how Grendel would kill them while they were asleep when they had their guards down, no defence for themselves. So did Chikatilo he would go after young boys and girls very often. “Over the next two years 19 victims were killed and taking more risk, also focusing on young boys and girls killing in public places” (Andrei Chikatilo). This shows how chikatilo would go for young victims having a unconscious person to victimize made it simply easy to overpower this was a twisted desire the two monsters had of going after people who were most vounibal. Chikatilo would take back drunk girls or prostitutes to a house that he bought hidden in the forest. To Andrei Chikatilo killing a man his age required more effort than he wanted or simply was not something that sexually arouse him but killing children and women was something he could definitely do easy and was what he gained satisfaction from. In conclusion easily overpowering victims putting fear in their victims and eating the corpse of their victims were just a few ways these monsters Grendel an Andrei Chikatilo shared similar killer traits.
