Endgame Reflections: Deconstructing The Avengers’ Final Battle

In the paper "Avengers: Endgame Essay " we will research the main themes of this film and analyze them. Avengers: Endgame was adapted from the marvelous comic created by Stan Lee and friends. This three hours movie was released on 24th of April 2019 in Indonesia. The producer of this movie was Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios Company. Jeffrey Ford and Matthew Schmidt edited this movie. Talented actors such as Robert Downey Jr. Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson and etc were also contributed to this movie. The amazing and good to hear music in this movie was played by Alan Silvestri's team. 'From the dawn of the universe, there was nothing, then... Boom! The Big Bang. The six element crystals were hurtling across the virgin universe. These infinity stones each control an essential aspect of existence' said Wong, one of the Avengers. Thanos, the mortal enemy of Avengers, wanted to do a crazy thing. He said in Avengers: Infinity War 'Titan was like most planets, too many mouths and not enough to go around and when we faced extinction, I offered a solution, genocide, but random'. That was why he said he wanted to save the universe by murdering trillions of human population. He deliberately collected the six infinity stones and put them on infinity gauntlet that he wore. Once he collected the six infinity stones and snap his fingers, he could wipe out half of human population in the universe. Shockingly, in Avengers: Infinity War, he defeated the Avengers, successfully collected the infinity stones, and finally snap his fingers. Half of the universe had gone, also half of the Avengers.

Avengers: Endgame is about the comeback of Avengers. They wanted to bring back the half of living creatures that wiped out by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. The first step that they took was tracking the six infinity stones. They could track the energy of the stones but not the location. They asked Nebula, Thanos daughter who hated his father a lot. Nebula knew, and they went to that place in the morning. After arriving, there was poor Thanos, with scratch on his face and hand. The remaining Avengers asked him about the stones, but he said 'I used the stones to destroy the stones' which meant the stones were gone. Thor was really mad that he beheaded Thanos. They came back to Earth with nothing. After 5 years, Ant Man shared his plan to the Avengers. His plan was creating time travel tool, and bringing back the infinity stones. This plan was approved by the others. The Avengers divided the task of where to go. When they traveled to the past, they found some problems. The main problem was the past Nebula. She arrested the present Nebula, and the one who went back to the present was the past Nebula. Nebula was a bad girl. She used to work for Thanos. Then when the past Nebula came to the present, she made a mess. She wanted to bring Thanos and his armies to the present. Fortunately, the Avengers finished with their work, and Hulk was chosen to wear the infinity gauntlet. He snaps his fingers before Thanos came. The universe was back. But suddenly, there was an explosion and Thanos came. The Avengers were trying hard to protect the infinity gauntlet. At last, when Thanos got the infinity gauntlet and wanted to snap his fingers again, Iron Man came in rush and seized the stones. I thought in this movie Thanos will defeat Avengers again, it turned out Iron Man took all the infinity stones and said 'I am Iron Man'. At last, Iron Man snaps his fingers. Thanos and his armies turned into dust. After stepping out of cinema, I realized that this movie is relatable with our condition now. People keep on multiplying meanwhile the natural resources do not increase. This movie is actually a reminder for us to keep our home, Earth. If we could not keep the Earth, maybe what concerned by Thanos will happen later. Or even worse, Thanos really comes and wipes out half of living creatures. One problem that is very backbreaking to keep away is plastic. I admit that the use of it is unavoidable. But, we should limit the use of it, because if we keep using the plastic, we will destroy our home.

Susi Pudjiastuti explained, currently the weight of plastic waste has reached 3.2 million tons. This number is expected to increase to around 30 million tons in the next 10 years. Susi said this could exceed the number of fish in Indonesia seas. That's why she urges us not to use disposable plastic anymore. The other problem is the pollution gasoline vehicles. Vehicles provide the biggest cause of global warming which can easily destroy our home. Pollution produced by gasoline-fueled vehicles such as motorcycles, cars, and others are producing excessive carbon dioxide gas. This carbon dioxide gas is the main cause of global warming because it traps heat so that it cannot escape into space. One of state university in Bandung has tried to limit the use of vehicles it its campus area by charging the students who ride their vehicles and park them in the campus area. This policy indeed raises pros and cons, but we have to see the positive impact of it. When the students mind with this policy, they will not ride their vehicles to campus and it will make that campus greener. We can also see how our government tried hard to protect our Earth from pollution. For example, they keep serving people by creating public transportations. MRT, Trans Jakarta, Commuter Line, Damri, and etc. Maybe the main goal is to reduce traffic congestion, but we can see other positive impacts from it. The less who ride their vehicles, the fewer the pollution will be. This movie made us realize that in the age of our Earth that is getting older, we must take part in efforts to preserve the Earth. Maybe we are not the Avengers, but we have to prove that Thanos' predictions and worries will never happen. This movie is perfect for all ages, so hopefully, whoever watched this movie, will love the Earth more and want to take part in caring the Earth.
