Relationship Between Terrorism And The Media

Several writers have suggested that certain media attention has increased opinions or the major risk or fear towards terroristic acts and crimes can relate to how little or how much attention a person pays to those dealing with what is being shown by the media. The overall relationship between terrorism and the media has been around for a long time, but has grown substantially over the years. Terrorist organizations rely on the media platforms of most democratic based countries including the United States to further their overall message and any plans they may have.

In an attempt to gain large amounts of renown towards their overall cause, terrorist organizations like ISIS or Al Queda often resort to different acts of violence and brutality that can purposely search for and target civilians or their means to survive. This form of terrorism has been proven to be very efficient in receiving a lot of attention to the terrorists causes. Some may argue that even though terrorism has been very inept for serving as the main catalyst for crumbling societies, damaging and receiving important political influence. This is a very simple and effective way of broadcasting terroristic causes and turning it into a terrorist threat to the media to an even broader set of viewers. Even throughout the more open-minded countries throughout Westernized-World. If someone states the word terrorist in a new-world setting, if someone says the term media, they are often related and can be linked together, especially as of late. Some companies that organize different types of media will not support the plans or objectives of most hostile groups, it falls in the hands of these companies to help report and disseminate these groups to help deter their plans. Throughout the increasingly tough media landscape, a terroristic incident takes place, and people race towards the incident to offer the best coverage they can. One well-known example that shows terror groups and the media show a close relationship was the release of several Osama bin Laden videos and audio recordings.

Most terror groups often use certain platforms of social media as a way to spread their propaganda verses using regular ways to convey things. Consumers hold their gaze towards many of the products that media stations put out to us. Consumers try to look towards the media to help give important news-related information on current terrorism. Almost ninety percent of sub-organized terror groups that do business on the internet can happen on social media websites or apps. A large percentage of Terror organizations tend to use social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and several other internet sites to disseminate their messages, recruit new members and collect valuable intelligence.

Terrorist cells and organizations like to use social media through electronic devices because they are easily accessible, are usually quite inexpensive, and can offer the functionality of the mission relatively quickly. Many social media websites can let terrorist cells interact and communicate with many of their contacts around the world. Video and photograph postings by terrorist groups has become very prevalent and common as of late. More and more beheadings and other violent and gruesome events have begun to surface throughout the web, and have pulled tons and tons views to them. This kind of exposure can do a lot for certain terrorist organizations. YouTube is predominately the biggest and most renowned website where these kinds of things can be seen for even just a short period of time. Even upon removal from this site, the video or photos may start to leak to other places on the internet.
