Research Report On International Brotherhood Of Teamsters
The union for the workers, public services, transporters, military soldiers and small business owners that keeps all of their strong words loud and proud called the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. While researching about the union I was curious of what the Teamsters were and what was their purpose “The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), commonly shortened to Teamsters, is one of the nation’s largest private-sector labor unions. Principally representing employees in the trucking, railway, and airline industries, the Teamsters union has over 1. 2 million members. ”
The Teamsters have been building the structure of both the United States and Canadian lands for so long contributing to everyone's needs every day. Being the ones to drive us around, check us out at grocery stores, and even making sure everyone is safe on a plane during flight. This group influences the government by the public jobs concerning society. Public services are part of the economy which provides services for the community, for example, building bridges, police officers, plumbers for our water supply as well. Even jobs that we take for granted, easily turning on a light switch which reaches all the way to a source where a worker keeps track of power for a city or even the simple custodian that keeps offices, classrooms, and courts clean for our everyday lives ruled by the strong Republican men that rule in these environments.
During the 2016 election, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters contributed and supported the Democrats since they fight for the workforce of the United States. Since a good majority of Democrats are labor workers who are below the middle class it makes sense that they are entitled to the union. Also with the middle class being a large group of non-white Americans and immigrants, it’s hard that they take a great part of our community and get a lot of backlash from being different. Which is difficult for them since a majority of people in the United States are Democrats and are workers as well. But since the election our President has done wonders for public workers, for example, he has instructed the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) to increase crew rest for airline personnel, flight crews from 8 hours to 10 hours. Also the debate over the size of the seat on the aircraft. The public wants the seats to be bigger and the president helped the airline defeat that cause. Bigger seats mean fewer customers which mean less revenue for the airlines. And since some airlines have different policies when it comes to seating and for different types of passengers, he has to appeal to all needs of the hard-working system that takes place in the air and on the ground. The president has been keeping true to the union making sure that all workers are treated equally. Even the companies who are private sectors. Those private sectors have their own rights as well as the public ones. It's all considering of those trying to make a living for themselves and even their families as well.
In conclusion, the IBT holds a strong cause to its upholders to all workforces making sure that the work they hold up to is not forgotten. That just because they are part of the lower class doesn't mean they try the same or even harder than the higher class.
