Review Of Seven At Two Past Five By Tara Basi

Abi, A button maker that lives in a bunk bed tower number seven, and gets up at two past five. Seven at two past five. After arriving at her work shop she finds a termination letter instead of a work order in her order box. Not knowing what the termination means, sets out on a journey to find some answers. She runs into a long list of characters, some human and some not. After she secures a loan and has her defense team together, it’s time for a wild ride in the judicial system. All within a day she finds the meaning of religion, love, hate and terror. I’m going to admit, this was not an easy read. I found myself rereading a lot of it. The bizarre and twisted setting of this book was a lot to take in. The names of the characters were confusing, Mary m, Mary j, Mary b, Mary c. and that’s just a few of them. Some of the things that come out of these characters mouths are so farfetched and off the wall, it just boggles the mind. If you had a clue what was going to happen next then you would be mistaken. Now if you were a fan of Monty python with a mix of Alice in wonderland, this book would be perfect for you.

The author Tari Basi does a very good job of describing the emotions and the physical features of the many different characters. All the little details of their clothing and stature, their smells, their physical features, the buttons they were wearing. Although I got lost many times when describing the inside of a building or an outside area. Everything is referred to as a box. That gets very confusing. I did think about giving up on the book. The first quarter of it was plain crazy and nonsensical. I became numb and started to get into the story. There were so much up and downs I just had to find out what happen next. The court section and the sentencing section became very interesting. Crazy of course, funny and good. Although the coursing and foul language was edited, there was some adult content. Would have better just to use the foul language and not add to the confusion of the book.

I will give this book a 2 out of 4 stars. Out of 22 chapters I didn't find many typos, there were a few words that had been substituted and didn't belong. The reason for my rating is for the imagination of the author And the very clever way to end the book. I would recommend this book to very open minded readers.
