Review Of Supercars: Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari 812 Superfast, Lamborghini Aventador S & Mclaren Senna

Above them is only the world of competition. Yes, they are five of the most spectacular supercars in history, some of the most exclusive, powerful and refined of those that can be purchased manufactured in series. Authentic asphalt beasts that end with all kinds of qualifiers if we consider luxury, its degree of extravagance, its lightness. But, above all, its energy and performance. To get the idea, only the sum of the powers of our protagonists reaches 4,540 CV!

AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT

In short, a meeting of supercars among which stands out, without a doubt, the Bugatti Chiron. Heir of the Veyron, gives 1,500 CV (420 km / h), power that places the French in another galaxy. Be careful, because the Ferrari 812 Superfast, McLaren Senna, Lamborghini Aventador S and Porsche 911 GT2 RS do not run with half measures. One for the other, they yield half the power of the Gaul, but they get accelerations similar to those of a ferry (the slowest fixes 2.9 seconds). More notes: to such a compendium we can add others like the Koenigsegg Agera (1,155 CV and € 924,000) and Aston Martin DBS Superleggera (725 CV and 0 to 100 km / h of 3.4 seconds), two divinities belonging to an Olympus that, as for the rest, requires fees from another world.

Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti's latest supercar relegates its predecessor, the Veyron, to the background. The name of Chiron has not been chosen at random: it pays homage to one of the most emblematic pilots of the French firm, Louis Alexandre Chiron, who excelled in the 20s and 30s. Manufactured almost entirely in carbon, the Chiron It is slightly larger than the Veyron: 4.54 meters long, 2.04 wide and 1.21 meters high. All encompassed in a design that combines full LED lighting and a rear spoiler that is a work of engineering.

Variable aerodynamics

Thanks to the know-how of the French developers, this element varies the aerodynamic coefficient of the vehicle according to its inclination. With it folded the Cx is 0.38, but in its highest positions can increase it to 0.40 and even 0.59. In the last position the piece contributes to stop it, once its maximum speed has been reached. Yes, because the Chiron is so forceful as to, in a straight line, encrypt a spectacular tip of 420 km / h. Of course, to achieve it first we must place the wing in its lowest position (remember, lowering the Cx to 0.35) and, second, activate the Top Speed driving mode by a second key, as was the case with the Veyron.

At that time, the stunning 8.0-liter W16 petrol engine inherited from the Veyron, with four turbochargers and 25% new parts, delivers its full potential (instead of the 400 hp it delivers to medium gas), namely, 1,500 HP at 6,700 rpm and 1,600 Nm of torque limit, this arranged between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm. Thus, it is not surprising that it goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.5 seconds, with an acceleration of 3,800 times the force of gravity, that at full capacity swallows 60,000 liters of air per minute or that 800 liters of water circulate then to through the propeller. Michelin has developed specific tires to fit such a device, covers that will not last long at such speed, although taking into account that each of the 500 units planned costs 2.9 million euros, who cares what the tires can withstand?

Ferrari 812 Superfast

The history of Ferrari has always been linked to the production of great supercars animated by huge engines. Therefore, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of its first V12, the brand of Cavallino Rampante decided to build the 812 Superfast. Heir to the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and the F12tdf, it becomes the most powerful Ferrari in history thanks to the new V12 engine of 6.5 liters placed in the central front position. A block that introduces interesting new features such as direct injection at 350 bars or variable geometry suction lines inherited directly from Formula 1.

The result, a serious section that manages to develop no less than 800 hp at 8,500 rpm and 718 Nm of maximum torque at 7,000 laps (although 80% of it is already available from 3,500 rpm). With a specific power of 123 hp / liter, record among the sports of this type, and associated with the automatic transmission of double clutch F1 DCT, with seven speeds that send force to the rear wheels, the 812 Superfast lives up to its name reaching a peak of 340 km / h and reaching 100 km / h, from standstill, in only 2.9 seconds.

Trace curves

Among the dynamic bonanzas of this sports car of 4.66 meters long are the control system of the lateral sliding angle, or Side Slip Control, and the directional rear axle Passo Corto Virtuale 2.0. Mechanisms that are now added, for the first time in a Ferrari, the electric power steering EPS. Elegant design and simple interior, but of great quality, each unit of the 812 Superfast is valued at about € 350,000, although surely the final bill will be much higher soon after the client configures it minimally.

Lamborghini Aventador S

Starting from the same monocoque chassis as the rest of Aventador, this sophisticated and advanced update of the Lamborghini super sports car hides many secrets. Starting with its performance, as its 6.5-liter V12 atmospheric engine has been properly revised to gain 40 hp (leaves the figure at 740 hp). In addition, the red zone of the revolution counter has been extended to 8,500 rpm. For its part, the maximum torque remains intact at 690 Nm, which delivers to 5,500 laps.

In spite of increasing the power the services remain without variation, counting a 0 to 100 km / h of 2.9 seconds and a tip of 350 km / h. Data that almost the Roadster convertible variant, 50 kilos heavier by the electrical system that acts on the hood. The chassis of the Aventador S receives direction to the four wheels, the first 'Lambo' to adopt it. Likewise, a driving program appears, called EGO, which adds the Strada, Sport and Corsa to individually adjust certain parameters of the vehicle.

Integral drive

For its part, the stability control has been adequately revised to act more effectively, while standard features powerful carbocerámicos brakes with front discs 400 mm and rear 380 mm, which become the perfect ally of the traction system total. All these benefits are accompanied by slight aesthetic changes designed to improve aerodynamic flow. In fact, its managers have managed to generate 130% of additional down forces. If you are interested in acquiring it, you must prepare € 382,000 to qualify for the Aventador S coupe and € 425,800 if the Roadster fits.

McLaren Senna

Although the legend of Ayrton Senna will remain forever in the memory of fans of motorsport, McLaren, team with which he reached the stadium, wanted to pay his particular tribute baptizing with the name of the legendary Brazilian pilot which is one of his creations more ambitious Beyond the particular aesthetic pattern applied by British designers, what really attracts attention is its engine. Placed in the rear center position, we are facing a V8 biturbo of 4.0 liters that generates 800 hp at 7,250 rpm and 800 Nm of torque.

Positioned in the rear center position, this is a V8 biturbo of 4.0 liters that generates 800 hp at 7,250 rpm and 800 Nm of torque between 5,500 and 6,700 rpm. In conjunction with a double clutch automatic transmission and, above all, a weight of only 1,198 kilos, thanks to the massive use of carbon fiber in its structure (get a weight / power ratio of 1.5 kg / hp), the McLaren Senna only needs 2.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km / h and 6.8 to reach 200 km / h; the tip is encrypted at 340 m / h.

Only the best

As it could not be otherwise, the mechanical potential accompanies a specific set-up of competition: monocoque chassis, hydraulic suspension Racc Active Chassis Control II, active aerodynamics and CCM-R carbocerámicos brakes with brake calipers (derived from the MCL 33 of Fernando Alonso), among other details. Of the McLaren Senna only 500 units will be manufactured, each one valued, at the start, at € 850,000. That price will rise as the client personalizes it to pleasure, for example resorting to one of the five finishes 'by McLaren' proposed, confi gured by a wide catalog of colors, special forged rims, escapes, bumpers, splitters

Porsche 911 GT2 RSA year ago, in the 2017 edition of the Good Wood Speed Festival, Porsche surprised everyone with what is the most radical and powerful 911 in history: the GT2 RS. It uses the block of the 911 Turbo S, the 3.8 of six cylinders in line biturbo boxer, touched with bigger turbos and new refrigeration. The power thus scales from 580 to 700 HP, and the maximum torque increases by 50 Nm, up to 750 Nm. It manages all this with a seven-ratio PDK automatic transmission, which sends the force to the rear wheels.

Like a pen

If we add a weight of only 1,420 kilos, thanks to the assembly of elements such as the titanium exhaust, the magnesium roof or the massive use of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP), it is not surprising that the 'Nueveonce' more Gross history only needs 2.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h, achieving a peak of 340 km / h. As if that were not enough, you can add an optional package, called Weissach, that lightens the set another 30 additional kilos. Among its effective dynamic complements are the directional rear axle, carbocerámicos brakes and PSM traction system, specially calibrated for the occasion. Each unit of the 911 GT2 RS starts at a price of € 326,934.
