Review Of The Book Treasure Hunters: Quest For The City Of Gold By James Patterson And Chris Grabenstein

What would you do if you were trying to swim to a nearby island with a group of sharks hot on your trail? Would you try to fight the sharks? Or would you swim for your life? Hopefully no one in this class is going to try something like that. But, pirates and treasure hunters, they do this all the time.

Treasure Hunters: Quest for the City of Gold is the fifth book in the Treasure Hunters series written by James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein. For those of you who like adventure fiction books, this is one you have to read. This hilarious adventure fiction book is fast-paced and has an action-packed plot line with many suspenseful moments. There was one part in the book were the main characters had to escape a hungry jaguar! Secondly, there are many people who save others from danger and doom. For example, Tommy Kidd, one of the main characters, had to rescue a family from a treacherous snake! A third reason is because they are on an important quest as it says it in the title: Quest for the City of Gold.

Their quest was pretty funny with many surprises along the way. Who knew that the twins would try to swim to an island with an ocean full of sharks! Or that they would save a drowning 6-year-old boy in a flood! Action, adventure, mystery & comedy, you have it all right in this book.

The main characters are the Kidd family, made up of Bick Kidd, Beck Kidd, Tommy Kidd, Storm Kidd, and their parents. They are all treasure hunters, and have been living on a ship for their entire life. Bick and Beck Kidd are twins. They get along most of the time, but every once in a while, they have a fight that their parents call a “Twin Tirade”. They fight over something useless, and end up forgetting what they were fighting about. Tommy Kidd is around 18 years old. He is named after his dad, Dr. Thomas Kidd. The thing that Tommy cares about the most, is his hair. He’s always fixing it and playing with it which his siblings find weird and useless.

Storm Kidd is the family genius. She has an amazing memory, knows every language and every city in the world, and she can fix broken cars and computers! It’s impossible to name one thing she doesn’t know. The Kidd family flew to Cusco, Peru, where the weather is unpredictable. You wake up with the sun burning your skin, and before you know it, the sky turns pitch-black and balls of ice are pelting your surroundings. Even worse for the Kidd family, they had to trek up a steep breathtaking mountain and a dense forest. And by breathtaking, I mean literally. The higher they climbed, the harder it was for then to breath. Eventually, they made it. But, the problem is, the Kidd family discovered a treasure map to the lost city of Paititi, which is a city made of gold. But when the twins leave their ship unguarded, the map is stolen!

The Kidds now have to rely on Storm’s memory to traverse the Amazon jungle with danger lurking around every corner, until she is kidnapped! What will the Kidd family do? The Kidds are in trouble, that’s for sure. And it’s obvious Storms kidnappers want to find the lost city too. But will the Kidds beat them to it? Or will they even find Storm at all? And if they ever get out of this mess what will happen next? Still wondering? Well lucky for you I have a suggestion. Just read the book!
