Review Of The Movie Field Of Dreams
Movie’s theme
This movie is based on the book ‘Shoeless Joe Jackson’ by W. P Kinsella. The story revolves around a farmer named John who lives in Iowa and builds a baseball field in the middle of his farmland when a voice commands him to do so. The movie then continuous and gives more insight on the life of this ambitious farmer in Iowa.
Movie‘s plot (storyline)
It is about young couple who runs Family Farm in Iowa. Kevin Costner as Ray and Amy Madigan as Annie Kinsley middle class people and living a happy life so one night a while working out in the cornfield a image of baseball field was seen by Ray in his corn field and he heard a voice ” If you build this he will come” so instead of worrying about his mental health he goes to his wife with proposal to build a baseball field though she was skeptical enough and she allowed him to build in cornfield he had notion that it was somehow connected to the famous shoeless Joe Jackson from 1919 Chicago Blackhawks which happens to be favorite player of his deceased father finally been encountered with shoeless Joe Jackson ghost one fine day he was totally thrilled, Still it was not over with it. Ray got obsessed with recruiting other players and the author from Boston with whom he and his wife were very fond of writer named Terence Mann.
They realized something is happening so Terence follows Ray onto his cross country trip to know about Moonlight graham was also baseball player but he only appeared for one match and counters Moonlight graham ‘s ghost who happens to appear only in one League but the problem was that Moonlight Graham was no longer alive but the Ray and encountered his spirit and somehow convinced him to come all long to Iowa to play Baseball when the day comes back his brother in law slashes him with argument and at the end because of the incident where Ray’s daughter gets choked up so Graham need to appeared in front of everyone so his brother-in-law realize that what Ray was telling was indeed true it was not any kind of Hallucination so at the end he realize why he need to build Baseball field of Dreams which is Epic and crazy and Ray figures out the reason why he built it and able to complete his father’s spirit wish to play baseball other gentleman figured out what role they played in coming to Iowa to be with Ray its more about connection of father and son rather than baseball there is no real connection but still it’s a onetime watch movie.
Deduction as per management
That movie served me well that risk taking is necessary you remain stagnant, predictable and, ultimately, you will become complacent. Risks are about pushing yourself until you’re operating outside of your comfort zone. Ray probably didn’t know the purpose why to build baseball field still he trusted his instinct and managed to achieve it though others like his brother-in-law considered him dubious with good judgment of course he ended well discovering the purpose. It derives that allowing yourself to take a step that might feel uncomfortable at first and then helps in Growing and realizing your full potential. Like I said Ray was even ready to search the purpose on the stake of his house and family no matter if has to go against wind still he managed to succeed.
Risk taking is a very important and crucial quality as for a leadership and essential for a leader’s effectiveness. Risk taking can be defined as: “Undertaking a task in which there is a lack of certainty or a fear of failure. ” The problem at the core of risk taking is fear; fear of failure, fear of success, fear of looking like a fool, fear of seeming ignorant, fear of seeming too aggressive. Taking risk means confronting the fears/challenges and having the courage to move forward. Constructing a baseball diamond in the middle of a cornfield is considered insane. Ray is on the verge of losing his farm: he’s not producing enough crops still instead of focusing on financial stability he takes his chances to build baseball field and eventually it turned out to be fruitful, Believe in yourself if there‘s no one to trust you never worry, First they laugh at you then they will follow you. At the end he was able to generate more income than as a farmer through charging as tickets for entry from people who wanted to visit it.
So sometimes if due to some or the other reason you need to shift or change the system or commodity still the fear of adopting new approach must not afraid you. A firm cannot cling on past and embrace the inevitability of change instead of that they must let a brighter future unfold before them which makes them better than prior version.
