Review Of Where The Red Fern Grows By Wilson Raw
In the book “Where the Red Fern Grows” by Wilson Rawls, they are strong feeling parts of this story. For example in chapter 19, page 242 “I buried little and by the side of Old Dan. I knew that was where she wanted to be. I also buried the part of my life along with my dog.”
This quote really stick out to me because I knew exactly But Billy is going through at this moment. When you lose a pet it's not like losing any other animal is like losing one of your best friends. All the time and where can you put into them is now come to an end. I have a lot of connections within this book. Another example is in chapter 4 on page 85, “I'm sure no one in the world can understand a young boy like his grandfather can.” Even though Bills a boy and I'm a girl I have the strongest connection with my grandmother. My grandmother treats me like one of her daughters, but me and her together have the greatest relationship. She has helped me a lot and has been there for me just like Bill's grandfather to him. Well of course everyone's favorite character is going to be Billy he is young boy that is very brave. Billy is very determined to get what he wants even though it may take a lot of time and work but if he wants it he is going to do anything to go and earn it.
Billy's grandfather plays a huge role in to Billy's life for being able to get his puppies. Billy’s grandfather cares for him so much he would do anything he can do to help him and see him happy. Little and Old Dan may be small but they're very strong mentally and physically. They're both very loyal to Billy and his family and would never want to see him get upset or let down. What the reader can learn from this book is a friendship hard work and determination. Just because you want something doesn't just mean we can go get it right away you first have to work for it. Like Billy, He was dying over the thought of having 2 coon hounds but he was not able to get them right when he wanted. He's saved up his money from work and couldn't get Hound pups until over a year later. After Billy got these pups he had learned really fast but this is all he ever wanted in life he began to do everything he could with his 2 dogs and spent almost every minute with him because he loved them.
This is a very good book, one of my favorites, I recommend, But there's some downsides to it. I wish there could have been more action throughout the whole story, like Billy getting separated from his pups in the snow storm at the contest. It truly is a good book to read about a great relationship with loving companions.
