Roaring 20s: Decade Of Prosperity And Growth

The 20's marked a decade of prosperity and growth. It was a time of transition in culture and in society. It took place in Canada, the UK and particularly the United States, the most notable countries. Metropolitan towns developed and the economy was high for the most part. That is why it is known as 'the roaring 20s,' since urban communities focused mainly on having a good time and a good life.Even though not everyone enjoyed the high life, this period has been highly influential in many aspects of culture that we still see today.

With more African Americans coming into the cities, society and culture became more accepting in society, and the KKK also exponentially grew. Women campaigned for their voting rights and gained what is known as the suffrage movement. Women were more independent: they cut their nails, made clothes more comfortable, smoked cigarettes, etc. They'd been known as flappers. They have made divicoring way easier than it was before. The entertainment divisions formed from silent movies to movies with sound, the rise of jazz music grew and sports.

Somethings that stayed the same since the roaring 20s would be that people wouldn’t only like to farm but also live in cities(history.com). Some of the legacies that still stand to this day is women having freedom and having an independent life either with family or alone. They also had the birth of mass culture which meant that Americans had extra money to spend on themselves. We also have to this day a mass growth of mafia’s dealing drugs, and illegal substances, but they are called drug dealers. The KKK cut is still active to this day and racism is also active, but it in the sense that it decreased and isn’t seen on the daily. Jazz music is still active and well known to this day of age.

In Conclusion, The 1920s was an urbanizing time and focused on living the high life. While living in can seem like a wonderful time, there have been negative aspects for many, particularly in rural areas, such as organized crime, racism, and poverty. The roaring twenties helped the economy evolve and brought out many interesting things like jazz music, people living in modernized cities, etc. They'd got some downLike Black Tuesday which means the stock market has collapsed. This contributed to the worst recession in the world called the Great Depression. Despite all the bad stuff that happened, there was more equality for women and they would do whatever they wanted.
