Satirical Depiction of Poverty and Homelessness in America
With the large amount of poverty that has accumulated in the United States it’s time to take action to control the homeless situation. Thousands of Americans are homeless taking up space in the streets of our city. A great solution to this issue would have the homeless people live in landfills. They could pick what box they want to live in a what to clothes they could wear. It also would also be a great job opportunity to sort through the recycling to make the environment healthier. The homeless would not only reside but they could pick through the waste and eat food that is untouched since it is a fact that most food does go untouched and wasted.
They could maintain their strength and livelihood. Throwing away food is often forgotten and not cared about, but this could be a new idea for Americans and they can feel like they’re doing something good when they waste food. The leftovers would go to the landfills and become meals or snacks for the landfill residents. Society won’t have to worry about providing food to the homeless because eventually they will be. People who care about wasting food will no longer feel bad because it will be going somewhere and to someone who needs it. Does it have to stop with only food though? Absolutely not. Used tissues, dental floss, & razors will be great for the homeless to maintain a nice hygiene. With a little bit of rain water and some soap that will keep the residents nice and squeaky clean. The residents can hopefully feel safe with where they live due to the fact that they did build it themselves with materials that they chose from the landfill. For floors, roofs, and even entertainment they can use junk mail or newspapers. Now if people who throw out personal papers or documents with information then that can be a lesson for them to start using a paper shredder and that can make everyone happy and a crime free zone. This landfill residency could also be a opportunity to better their education. They can read lotion bottles, magazines, nutritional facts, & any books thrown away.
The landfill inhabitants could get creative and maybe create a village if they wanted to. With the resources being so limited there might be competition but it could also be a chance for relationships to begin weather it’s friendly or romantic it could still happen. Now most people would be hesitant about this situation and say that it is too dangerous and inhumane for the residents. This could actually be a good lesson for them when their life comes to a life where they don’t have to live in landfill and in an actual home. The landfill offers a good shelter for the troubled poverty and it lets the homeless provide a service to the public.
